Passport visa

Passport 1 must be handled in person at the entry-exit mirror administration where the account is located. It can be handled across regions. For example, if you are in Chaoyang District, Beijing, you can go to Haidian District, get it done in 200 weeks, and get it done in 400 a week (urgent). You can apply for mailing it back to your current address, and you don't have to go back to get it. Need ID card and household registration book (original and photocopy), two two-inch photos with white background (photo and photocopy).

After getting a passport, you can apply for a visa in Chongqing or find an agent, which saves time and money.

You said studying abroad. Personally, I think your company should apply for a business visa for you, not for yourself. You'd better ask the company again. Generally, the visas for individuals are tourist visas and visiting relatives visas.
