There are 55 ethnic minorities, but this ethnic group has none. Why?
Different ethnic groups have different cultures, languages and customs. Different from the Han nationality, ethnic minorities have more special treatment and preferential policies, such as relaxing the restrictions on family planning and adding extra points to the college entrance examination. , all for the better protection of ethnic minorities. However, not all ethnic minorities enjoy the same treatment, for example, one ethnic minority does not enjoy the treatment of extra points in the college entrance examination.
This minority is the Bai nationality. Bai nationality is a relatively large minority in China, with a relatively large number. Although not as famous as Zhuang nationality, it also has a certain popularity in China. Bai people call themselves Bai Zi and Bai Ni, which means white in Chinese. Because they like white very much and think it is a symbol of sacredness and dignity, they add a lot of white to their clothes.
Bai people are widely distributed in Yunnan, Guizhou, Sichuan and other provinces, but the cultural customs of Bai people in different regions are slightly different, and their names are not the same. For example, the Bai people in Yunnan are called "Jia Min" and "Nama", while the Bai people in Guizhou are called "Seven Surnames" and "Nine Surnames". Of course, although the names are different, they all belong to the Bai nationality in essence.
The relationship between Bai nationality and Han nationality is also very close. As early as before the Qin Dynasty, Yunnan people, Qiang people, Han people and other ethnic minorities lived in the southwest for a long time, and the cultures of several ethnic groups and integration of language together gradually produced the Bai people.
During the pre-Qin period, several great powers in the Central Plains were fighting for territory. Among them, Chu, as a big country in the south, sent troops to the southwest in order to enhance its national strength and wanted to take this place as its own. However, when this army entered the area, it was cut off by the Qin Dynasty, which made it impossible for this army to return to Chu. So this army simply re-established a country in the southwest, that is, the ancient Dian country, which was also the basis of the later white regime.
Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty also tried to expand the territory in the southwest, but it was blocked by the indigenous Kunming people, so it has never been successful. It was not until the Eastern Han Dynasty that Southwest China was formally incorporated into the national territory. At the same time, in order to strengthen the management of this area, the court also set up counties here, moved a large number of Han people to live here, and introduced advanced production technology, which made the southwest region develop well.
In the Tang Dynasty, the Bai nationality began to grow and develop in the southwest and became the main ethnic group in this area. Even some other ethnic groups around were assimilated by the Bai people and became members of the Bai people, and then the Bai people established Dali Kingdom here. Since then, Dali kingdom has ruled the southwest region until the Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties, when Dali kingdom perished, the southwest region was incorporated into the national territory and Yunnan Province was established. Since then, the Bai people have gradually merged with the Central Plains in politics, culture and economy.
In the war of the last century, the people of the whole country made great efforts to carry out patriotic struggle, and the Bai nationality was no exception. Many Bai children are far away from their hometown and devoted themselves to the war, which has made great contributions to the construction of new China. After the founding of New China, after reform, the Bai people officially obtained the status of minority in 1956, and also established Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture. In the following decades, the Bai people created a brand-new social environment with their hard-working hands.
For thousands of years, the Central Plains regime has been immigrating Han people to the southwest, so that they can live and develop together with the Bai people. Later, the two ethnic groups gradually merged together, so the Bai nationality was deeply influenced by the Han nationality from culture to language. Not only do they speak Chinese fluently, but also some customs and habits are very similar to those of the Han nationality.
Although Bai's main language is Bai, later linguists found that many of Bai's grammars are very similar to Chinese, but there are some differences in pronunciation, so it is easier for Bai to learn Chinese, which gives them many advantages over other ethnic minorities in the college entrance examination. The policy of adding points to the college entrance examination is based on the fact that it is more difficult for ethnic minorities to learn Chinese than for Han people, and it is also to promote national unity. Since it is easier for Bai people to learn Chinese and their education level is relatively high, this preferential policy is naturally unnecessary.
However, even without this policy, Bai students don't care, because they believe that they can get into a good university by their own efforts.
