Discipline Construction of Historical Geography Research Center of Fudan University

China Institute of Historical Geography, the predecessor of the Historical Geography Research Center, has been in the first place in China for a long time since its establishment, and its backbone is academic leaders of various disciplines, especially in the fields of territorial administration, waterway changes, geographical names textual research, historical map research and compilation, historical geography ancient books collation, historical climate and disasters. In China, great progress has been made in the branches of human geography such as historical geographic information system, historical population geography, immigration history, historical political geography, historical cultural geography and historical social geography. In the recent five years from 200 1 to 2005, researchers from the historical geography center published 30 monographs and more than 500 academic papers.

Up to now, China Historical Geography Research Center is a historical geography research and teaching institution with the most complete professionals, the best equipment, the widest research field, the most fruitful results and the most trained talents in China.
