Does Shanwei mean Chaoshan?

number

The traditional concept of Chaoshan includes Chaozhou, Shantou, Raoping (part) and Jieyang (part). Influenced by Hakkas in the north and Guangfu in the west, the language and customs have changed to some extent and evolved into their own unique culture for a long time.

Shanwei once belonged to Huizhou prefecture, then became a prefecture-level city, and then became a major region such as a municipality, Haifeng county, Lufeng city and Luhe county. Lufeng is close to Huilai and Puning, which is the area near Chaoshan in Shanwei City. Luhe County, near Heyuan, is dominated by Hakka culture. So Shanwei is the intersection of Guangfu, Minnan and Hakka cultures.

history

Chaoshan people are mostly immigrants from the Central Plains, and their ancestors went all the way south from the Central Plains due to wars in previous dynasties.

Up to now, they have merged and assimilated with South Vietnamese aborigines in their long-term life, that is, Chaoshan people today.

Today's Shanwei people are part of the Heluo people in the Central Plains and the Fulao people in Fujian in the "Yongjia Rebellion" in the Western Jin Dynasty and the "Anshi Rebellion" in the Middle Tang Dynasty, and they have merged with the Hakkas and aborigines who have already lived here.

So strictly speaking, Shanwei and Chaoshan are not a clan.
