What about Singapore?
After living in Singapore for half a year, my friends always ask me, is it better abroad or at home? Tell me how I feel. Of course, I am an ordinary citizen, without considering too many political factors, just starting from my personal life feelings.
Let's talk about food first:
The most picky food in the world is China. The price of general hotels in China is also acceptable to the general working class. I have been in Singapore for half a year and have never been to a hotel. The reason is that the average hotel tastes ordinary and the price is amazing. We choose to eat buffet, brush mutton, Japanese sushi and so on. Good and cheap, about S $20 to S $30 per person (1 S $ less than RMB in 5 yuan). Because it is summer all year round in Singapore, many people choose to eat at food stalls. The food in the food stall is very cheap, with rice, noodles and cakes, which saves trouble but the sanitary condition is worrying. Because of unique factors, Singapore generally imports everything: Dutch potatoes, China spinach, New Zealand apples and Japanese cucumbers. Vegetables are picked and put in plastic bags. I think everyone in China in a foreign country will not miss the delicious food in China!
Life:
Singapore's housing policy is probably the most commendable in the world. Although Singapore has a high population density, the government claims that "everyone has a house". So for Singaporeans, housing is definitely not a problem. Houses in Singapore are roughly divided into single-family villas, conjoined villas, apartments and townhouses. Among them, the apartment is divided into five rooms, four rooms and three rooms. About 80% people in Singapore live in apartments, and we are one of these 80%. To tell the truth, HDB's house is not as bright as Tiantong Garden! I used to live on the 20th floor of Tiantongyuan, but now I live on the 7th floor of Singapore. The room is always dark because the windows are small. The place where I live now has a high house price and a good view downstairs. I have been to a friend's house. My friend lives in an apartment downstairs with a swimming pool and a barbecue table. The whole community is picturesque.
Wear:
It is summer all year round in Singapore, so it is very economical and convenient to wear. Many Singaporeans wear shorts, vests and flip-flops all year round. However, there is no clear seasonal change, which is really monotonous!
Transportation:
Because Singapore is too small, private cars are strictly restricted, the price of car licenses is often surprisingly high, and sometimes you can buy a car. The price of cars is also high, generally three or four times that of domestic cars. This year, affected by the global financial turmoil, the price of automobile license plates has dropped sharply. However, as Singapore is one of the countries greatly affected by the financial turmoil, the number of people buying cars has not increased significantly. Taxis are cheap and convenient, and buses are air-conditioned. When I lived in Tiantongyuan, I spent an hour on the road every time I went to work, or I took Line 5. The car condition in Beijing is really bad. Besides, the place is large, and it takes an hour to go anywhere. In Singapore, besides spending some time on the way out on weekends, it usually takes more than 20 minutes on the way to and from work.
Children's education:
This is probably the biggest concern of all mothers. I have friends from Singapore around me who can basically speak fluent English and Chinese. English is the official language of Singapore, and English is used in compulsory education in primary and secondary schools. Many Singaporeans have no problem with their spoken Chinese, but their Chinese writing is not good, or even bad. So at this point, I strongly disapprove of people leaving their homes and businesses to come to Singapore for the education of their children. The competition for admission to key primary schools in Singapore is fierce. Take a key primary school nearest to my home as an example. The admission criteria are: Category I: having brothers and sisters studying in our school. The second category: parents are employees of the school. Category III: Parents are members of the Alumni Association. The fourth category: Parents volunteer at school. Because the first three can't be achieved by hard work, most parents actively sign up as volunteers. At present, all applicants have to queue up, and the requirements are becoming more and more strict. In fact, for Singaporeans, children's schooling is not a big problem. As long as you are within the scope of a prestigious school, you will definitely be admitted. The method I am taking now is: 1, buying a house near a famous school. 2. Sign up as a volunteer.
Others:
On the bright side:
The air quality in Singapore is really good! ! ! The sky is always blue, because it always rains and the ground is very clean. Many children are playing outside barefoot. Singapore has the lowest crime rate in the world. Singapore's medical expenses are high, but the government has special care for Singaporeans and permanent residents. The annual insurance for a family of three is about S $65,438+0,000, which can be fully reimbursed as long as they are hospitalized. Some time ago, my daughter had an adenoidectomy at the National University Hospital of Singapore. She was hospitalized for one day, and the total cost was about S $3,000, which was fully reimbursed. Briefly talk about my daughter's hospitalization experience: Step 1: Make an appointment with a doctor online. Step 2: See a doctor and determine the operation time. The third step: surgery and hospitalization for one day. Step 4: Review. The whole process seems to be no different from that in China, but as far as the implementation process is concerned, it is very different. First of all, the expert we made an appointment with is the best otolaryngologist in Singapore. When making an appointment, we were worried that we would have to wait a long time. Results About 0/5 minutes after online registration, a nurse called to confirm the appointment time-no one was found, no waiting, no red envelope. It is conceivable how difficult it is to find a similar expert in Beijing! If you don't find someone, you have to wait a month or two for the same operation at Beijing Children's Hospital. Someone should send a red envelope during the operation, and something should be sent to the nurse after the operation. In fact, in most countries, this kind of operation is an outpatient operation, but in China, it takes a week to stay in hospital. Some people say that it is for economic benefits, while others say that it is conducive to the recovery of patients. Maybe it makes sense!
The bad side:
Ultraviolet rays are very strong, and it is very hot 365 days a year, with an average annual temperature of 28 degrees. I came to Singapore last August. It was really hot at that time, and I would sweat if I moved a little. From the end of June165438+1October, the weather has turned cold, so I have to sleep with a towel at night. The temperature in the house is comfortable during the day, but the temperature outside is still high at noon. The financial turmoil has had a great impact on Singapore. Reading newspapers and TV every day and talking about the financial turmoil make people flustered. Looking at China, it seems that it has not been affected by the financial turmoil. Everyone goes to work as usual and has a peaceful mind. As for saying that Singaporeans discriminate against China people, I think it is entirely a matter of personal feelings. My principles: self-confidence, clear goals, neither supercilious nor supercilious, who can do anything to me?
