It is predicted that there will be more arrivals than departures during the Dragon Boat Festival holiday

Some experts predict before the Dragon Boat Festival in 2023 that the number of inbound tourists will exceed the number of outbound tourists during the Dragon Boat Festival in 2023, with a ratio of 4:6.

Dai Bin, President of China Tourism Academy: After the previous few long holidays, everyone’s travel expectations have stabilized, whether it is domestic travel or outbound travel. Customs clearance is becoming more and more convenient, including the adoption of many effective measures on immigration. Including Hong Kong and Macao compatriots traveling to and from the mainland and us going to Hong Kong and Macao, customs clearance speeds are much faster than before. The supply chain is being repaired to a higher and higher degree, and whether it is airlines, cruise ships, or land customs clearance methods in Hong Kong and Macao, they are becoming more and more complete.

What’s more important is that there is no force that can stop people from yearning for a better travel life. The world is so big and we always have to see it. Against this background, it is reasonable that this year’s Dragon Boat Festival holiday will usher in a “small peak” of inbound and outbound tourism. Overall, the number of outbound tourists is slightly higher than the number of inbound tourists. Considering that Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan are the basic markets, the market is generally balanced, so we predict that the ratio of inbound and outbound tourists should be 4:6.

Dragon Boat Festival passenger flow peaks

According to the National Immigration Administration website, the National Immigration Administration analyzed and evaluated that ports across the country will usher in a "small peak" of inbound and outbound passenger flow during the Dragon Boat Festival in 2023. The peak number of inbound and outbound passengers exceeded 1.4 million per day, and the daily average will reach 1.28 million, an increase of about 2.2 times compared with last year’s Dragon Boat Festival and 63% of the 2019 Dragon Boat Festival.

The peak passenger flow is mainly concentrated on June 22 and June 23. The inbound and outbound passenger flow at large international airports has steadily recovered. The average daily number of passengers passing through Beijing Capital Airport, Shanghai Pudong Airport, and Guangzhou Baiyun Airport is expected to reach 28,000, 51,000, and 23,000 respectively. The inbound and outbound passenger flow at the land ports adjacent to Hong Kong and Macao will continue to grow. The average daily number of customs clearance at Zhuhai Gongbei Port is expected to reach 320,000, and the Shenzhen Luohu and Futian subway ports are expected to reach 178,000 and 152,000.
