How did Jiaozuo get its name?

There are three theories about the origin of this name.

One said it was named after the "coking" workshop.

In the Yuan Dynasty, Xu Heng wrote Lu Zhai's suicide note, which is said to be simplified by Jiao Jia Workshop. "Jiao" is the surname, and "Zuo" is the workshop, which refers to Jiao Jiakai's workshop. Jiaojia Workshop is famous for firing porcelain. In communication and conversation, people gradually simplified the word "Jiaojia Workshop" to the word "Jiaozuo". In the sixth year of Qin Long in Ming Dynasty (1572), the inscription "Jiao Zuojia" on the tablet can be used as evidence.

Third, it is said that "Jiaozuo" and "Jiaozuo" are homophonic. According to legend, there were many jujube trees here in ancient times. During the Hongwu period of the Ming Dynasty, immigrants from Hongdong County, Shanxi Province came here to eat dates, settled down and dried them for the winter, which was called "Jiao Zao", hence the name "Jiao Zao".
