Fairy Lake is a beautiful name and very attractive. In fact, it used to be Jiangkou Reservoir, located at 16 km southwest of Xinyu City, Jiangxi Province. The water control project was built in Jiangkou Village in the middle and lower reaches of Yuanhe River, a tributary of Ganjiang River, hence the name "Jiangkou Reservoir".

So how did the name of Fairy Lake come from?

This is about to say ancient legends. According to "Searching for the Gods" written by Gan Bao, a writer in the Eastern Jin Dynasty, the story of a young man who saw a fairy come down to earth and married one of them as his wife is probably similar to the story of a cowherd and a weaver girl, which is a beautiful imagination.

Because of the legend of "Immortal Descent", the reservoir here is also called "Immortal Lake", with beautiful lakes and mountains, which naturally becomes a local tourist attraction with a total area of 298 square kilometers, including a water area of 50 square kilometers and 99 islands dotted around, belonging to national AAAA-level tourist attractions and national key scenic spots.

The ecological environment here is good, with both lake and mountain scenery, high forest coverage and air quality reaching the national first-class standard. It can be called "natural oxygen bar", a lake scenic spot with historical and cultural connotations, and a "mother lake" for local people.

Doushui Reservoir is located in Doushui Town, Shangyou County, Ganzhou City, Jiangxi Province, which spans Friendship and Chongyi counties and belongs to the largest water source in southern Jiangxi. It can be called the western oasis of Ganzhou, a green treasure house of man and nature.

This reservoir was built earlier. As early as 1954 survey, 1955 started, 1957+ 10 was completed, with a water area of 3 1 10,000 square meters, a water storage capacity of more than 800 million cubic meters and a forest coverage area of 340,000 mu. It has become a tourist attraction, also known as "Doushui Lake", belonging to the national AAAA-level tourist scenic spot. In addition to the beautiful natural landscape, it also has a unique Hakka style, attracting a large number of tourists, and is now renamed "Yangming Lake".

Many reservoirs were renamed as "lakes" in order to develop tourism. In fact, the reservoir itself is an artificial lake, which is understandable. However, there is another reservoir, renamed "Hai", which is remarkable.

This reservoir is Zhelin Reservoir, also known as Zhelin Lake and Lushan West Sea.

Zhelin Reservoir is located between Yongxiu County and Wuning County, Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province. Built in 1958. The dam project is located in Zhelin Town, hence the name "Zhelin Reservoir".

Zhelin Reservoir is called "Zhelin Lake", which is easy to understand, but why is it called "Lushan West Sea"?

There may be several reasons. On the one hand, Zhelin Reservoir is the largest man-made lake in Jiangxi, with a very wide lake surface with a total area of 425 square kilometers, including a water area of 308 square kilometers and an average water depth of 45 meters. There are as many as 1 667 islands, including more than 900 islands over 5 mu. This scale is really not comparable to that of ordinary reservoirs or lakes, and the speed is really fast.

On the other hand, Zhelin Reservoir is located at the west foot of Lushan Mountain, and it is a scenic spot that can't be missed around Lushan Mountain. Now, Lushan West Sea Scenic Area, namely Yunjushan-Zhelin Lake National Scenic Area, is built here. The name of Lushan Xihai is more convenient to call, easy to remember and pleasant to listen to.
