What are the modes of IELTS?

There are two modes of IELTS test, one is academic test and the other is general training test. Let's take a look at the applicable types of these two exams.

Academic: It is mostly used to test whether the English level of candidates studying abroad can study university and postgraduate courses in English environment.

General training: it can be applied to immigrants, focusing on evaluating the basic English ability of candidates and whether they can communicate normally abroad, that is, survival English.

Compared with TOEFL, IELTS has fewer multiple-choice questions in listening and often appears in combination with graphic questions, but there are a lot of questions in reading, so it needs to master less vocabulary than TOEFL.

In Europe and America, more and more universities recognize and accept the results of IELTS test, so it is very important to master IELTS learning methods. Britain, Australia, New Zealand and other countries regard IELTS test scores as the only standard for immigrants' English proficiency.
