Historical evolution of Zhaoyang District

In the sixth year of Jianyuan of the Western Han Dynasty (135 BC), Zhuti County was established and belonged to Qianwei County.

The Eastern Han Dynasty belonged to Zhuti County, a vassal state of Qianwei, Yizhou.

In the early Tang Dynasty, it belonged to Rongzhou, Jiannan Road, under the jurisdiction of Quzhou. In the Tang Dynasty, it belonged to the Wumeng tribe of Tuodong Jiedu Prefecture.

In the Northern Song Dynasty, it belonged to the Wumeng tribe on Zizhou Fu Road, and in the Southern Song Dynasty, it belonged to the Wumeng tribe on Zizhou Road.

Wumeng Road was built in the 13th year of Yuan Dynasty (1276).

In the fifteenth year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty (1382), Wumeng Prefecture was established and belonged to the Chief Secretary of Yunnan; Guihua Prefecture was established and belonged to Wumeng Prefecture (seeking for abolition).
