Studying abroad: science and engineering are the easiest jobs, while business employment is a difficult problem.

At many recent autumn study abroad exhibitions, many students and parents will ask, "What is the employment situation of this major now?"

Recently, Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security released a set of data showing that last year alone, 272,900 overseas students returned to China, an increase of 46.57%.

The destination with the highest employment rate for international students.

Recently, an institution released a 20 13 report on the career planning and employment of overseas students in Zhejiang Province at the 29th Overseas Examination Exhibition in Zhejiang Province.

The subjects of this report are more than100 students from Zhejiang who graduated from 20 12 to 20 13, respectively, from seven countries and regions such as the United States, Britain, Australia and Canada.

According to the report, more than 70% of international students find jobs within six months after graduation, and it is easier to find jobs in "technical flow" majors such as computers.

Among the three popular places for China students to study abroad-the United States, Britain and Australia, Australia has the highest employment rate for international students.

Eighty-six percent of Zhejiang students who obtained their master's degrees in Australia were successfully employed locally or returned to China within six months. Most of the students who didn't find jobs wanted to pursue further studies or planned to emigrate.

The employment report also shows that successful employment is closely related to majors. Take Australia as an example. Among all Zhejiang students who have found jobs, 73% are looking for jobs corresponding to their majors.

Australian students also choose to start their own businesses after graduation. Another 32% work in private enterprises, 26% work in state-owned enterprises, and 12% work in banks. 10% or more are employed in foreign-funded enterprises. Well-known companies that took office include Nokia, Siemens, foreign consulates in Shanghai and CITIC Securities.

Some insiders predict that the employment environment in Australia will be better in the next few years.

Because the Australian Minister of Education said at the Australian International Education Conference not long ago that the Albert government may extend the visa process simplification measures to training schools outside universities, and at the same time maximize the employment opportunities of outstanding international students.

Employment in science and engineering is the easiest, while employment in business is a difficult problem.

According to the employment rate of international students, the United States, the most popular destination for studying abroad, can only rank second. After completing the master's degree, 77.9% of Zhejiang students successfully found jobs or returned to China within six months.

However, compared with the high employment rate of overseas graduates in Australia, what surprises us even more is that nearly 25% of all employed Zhejiang students are employed in the United States.

Comparing the low employment situation of foreign students in Britain with the overall employment situation in the United States, this figure shows that the employment situation of Zhejiang students in the United States is better.

Students who stay in the United States mainly work in six states, including new york, California, Colorado, Ohio, Washington, D.C. and New Jersey.

Because most of these states are the base camps of the first-class universities in the United States, and the elites gather, they have gradually become the gathering places of many large companies and well-known enterprises in the United States. There are relatively more employment opportunities.

From a professional point of view, the best employment situation of international students studying in the United States is computer science. In addition, majors such as biology, physics and chemistry are also more likely to get employment opportunities.

The National Employment Report released by ADP, an American data processing company, shows that the main areas driving the growth rate of the United States are science and technology and energy. The easiest job for China students in the United States is science and engineering. It is relatively difficult for students majoring in business, social science and art to find jobs in the United States.

However, business is the most popular major for Zhejiang students. More than 40% of international students will choose business, followed by engineering, accounting for more than 20%, and finally art design and social sciences.

On the one hand, business is easy to learn, on the other hand, there are many private entrepreneurs in Jiangsu and Zhejiang who send their children abroad to study business. In case they can't find a suitable job in the future, they can come back and inherit the family business.

There are not many foreign students studying engineering, because some students and parents think that engineering is highly technical, so they will find a more targeted job in the future and have a relatively narrow employment.

There are many international students in business, and the employment competition is fierce. But it also depends on the specific major. It is understood that many students majoring in accounting, marketing and finance choose to return to China for development because of their wide employment, and the employment rate is not low.

Recently, we conducted an employment survey on nearly 6,000 returnees and more than 2,500 non-returnees. The results show that 15.6% of returnees are engaged in financial industry, which is 9.6% higher than that of non-returnees.

This shows that, on the one hand, the financial industry is very attractive to returnees, on the other hand, returnees have a strong demand for talents in the financial industry and a great appetite.

It is difficult to stay in the local employment.

According to a survey, only 70% of the international students who went to Britain to study for a master's degree in July 2010 found jobs within half a year, which is the lowest among the three major study destinations. However, this figure is higher than the previous year.

This upward trend has something to do with the recovery of the British economy, and there are more local employment opportunities. However, this is more related to occupation. At present, engineering majors, such as computer and electronics, have obvious employment advantages.

The employment situation of education majors is also very good. The employment direction is mainly to give English lessons to students from non-English-speaking countries. Because of its practicality, it coincides with the demand of the domestic job market-domestic schools and language training institutions are in great need of teachers in this field.

Landscape architecture major is developing well after returning to China, and there is also a lack of high-end talents in this field in China, while British architecture major is world-famous.

The employment prospects are also promising, as well as the financial accounting major (MFA). In the past two years, many graduate students who graduated from this major have returned to China and worked directly in banks.

But it's getting harder and harder to apply for this major. Some top universities now require students to provide GMAT scores.

As for the media major that Zhejiang students prefer, it will be more difficult to go back to the mainland for employment, but there will be more opportunities for development in Hong Kong. But it is still very difficult to stay in the UK for local employment.

Last year, Lu, who graduated from Newcastle University, took a postgraduate course in business and stayed in the UK to work. To sum up her job-hunting experience, the key is to integrate into local circles and participate in social activities more often. Like her, because of the recommendation of local enthusiastic friends, she got an interview and found a job smoothly.

Other study destinations

Europe

Judging from the number of students, the number of Zhejiang students studying in France, Germany and Italy in recent years is far less than that in English-speaking countries such as the United States. Among them, the difficulty of language ability is a very important factor.

To study in these European countries, you must master French, German, Italian and other local languages. However, most foreign language courses offered in primary and secondary schools in China are English, and learning from scratch will consume a lot of time and energy.

However, because there are few people studying in these countries, if they return to China for employment after graduation, the competition will be less intense. If you choose to enter a foreign company in Europe, you will have obvious language advantages and find a job better than domestic college students. But if you want to stay in the local area after graduation, there are many opportunities for paid internships, and it will be more difficult to find a job.

Canada

Canada has the second largest land area in the world, but its population is only 30 million, and there are less than 100 universities, so it is in urgent need of all kinds of skilled talents. Therefore, the skilled migration policy is relatively loose, and graduates from prestigious schools also value it.

The employment situation of international students is often closely related to the local immigration policy. Studying in Canada, there are not many jobs, but the proportion of graduates staying in the local area is very high.
