The history of the ancient town of Nianbadu

In 878 AD, the Huang Chao Uprising Army attacked Fujian and was stopped at Xianxialing on the border of Zhejiang and Fujian. Therefore, the Xianxia ancient road was opened between the mountains, which made the nearby town have a historical record. In the Northern Song Dynasty, there were 44 capitals in southern Zhejiang, and this town ranked 28th. Locals call it "the eight capitals of the year".

People have always described the strategic risk of the eighth capital of the year as "the key to the southeast, the throat of the eight provinces of Fujian." This is not only because she is located at the junction of Fujian, Zhejiang and Jiangxi provinces, but also because she has four passes: Anmin, Fengling, Liushi and Xianxia, which are easy to defend but difficult to attack.

In history, it became a battleground for military strategists, and now it belongs to Jiangshan City, Zhejiang Province, and prospered with the help of Xianxia Ancient Road. Before the completion of the 1932 highway, the Xianxia ancient road was the only passage between Fujian and Zhejiang. Fugai Mountain, south of Zhennan, is the entrance of Xianxia Ancient Road into Fujian. In Xu Xiake's travel notes, it is called "taking clouds from strange rocks, flying clouds cut green". At the end of the Ming Dynasty, Zheng Chenggong's father also retired to Taiwan Province from Fujian via this ancient road. Later, the Qing government recruited 1500 soldiers from all over the country and stationed them in Fenglingguan, south of Nianbadu. With the existence of the army, the commercial development was naturally promoted, and it gradually evolved into an immigrant town in August.

China culture has always been spread under the clan background. In China, a village is often a surname. Li Jiazhuang Wangjiatun Zhangjiacun. But Nianbadu, a small ancient town that began in the Tang Dynasty and flourished in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, has a total population of 10,000, but it has 142 surnames and 13 dialects.

So 28 has the nicknames of "Dialect Kingdom" and "People's Ancient Town".

It is said that during the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, several young volunteers in the town stayed in Dandong City, Liaoning Province, and found that the local language was similar to Mandarin in Nianbadu. After a long journey in Qian Shan, the young soldiers found their hometown that had been lost for hundreds of years, and finally found that "Nianbadu Mandarin" turned out to be "Kanto Dialect", and several young people could not help crying with joy.

The migration phenomenon formed in history makes the folk custom of the ancient town unique.

The buildings in the town are built on both sides of the ancient road, with Li Xun Street in the north and Fengxi Street in the south. Therefore, the whole ancient town presents an irregular corridor structure. The ancient town was in its heyday during the Tongzhi period of the Qing Dynasty. North and South grocery stores have more than 50 restaurants and more than 40 wholesalers.

Although the eight-year-old people in remote areas made their fortune by doing business on ancient roads, they always set their eyes on Kyoto, hoping that their children would study hard and become officials. So the construction of Wenchang Pavilion has become the collective comfort and dream sustenance of the people in this town.

In the vicissitudes of history, the year octave follows its own cultural logic; In the quaint and magnificent old house, on the thick and distant stone road, Nianbadu has passed on the ancient cultural customs to this day, and with this self-esteem, it has occupied this land leisurely and overbearing, and has interpreted the story of "Cultural Border Town" from generation to generation.
