Where is Baihetan Power Station?

Baihetan Hydropower Station is located in ningnan county, Sichuan Province and Qiaojia County, Yunnan Province.

It is the second cascade hydropower station developed in the lower reaches of Jinsha River, which has comprehensive benefits such as power generation, flood control, sand retention, improving downstream shipping conditions and developing shipping in the reservoir area. The normal water level of the reservoir is 825 meters, with a corresponding storage capacity of 20.6 billion cubic meters. The underground workshop is equipped with 16 units. The initial planned installed capacity is160,000 kilowatts, and the average power generation for many years is 60.24 billion kwh. ?

Functional significance of Baihetan Hydropower Station;

The project mainly focuses on power generation, and has comprehensive benefits such as sand blocking, flood control, shipping and irrigation. The preparation period of the project is 3 years and 6 months, the total construction period is 12 years, and the static investment is 84.6 billion. After the completion of the project, there are 22,000 mu of flooded farmland, forest land102,000 mu, and the relocated population is 654,380+million.

According to the requirements of the Brief Report on Comprehensive Planning of the Yangtze River Basin (revised 1990), combined with the characteristics of the project and its strategic position in the "West-to-East Power Transmission", it is determined that the development task of Baihetan Hydropower Station is to give priority to power generation, give consideration to flood control, and promote local economic and social development and immigrants to get rid of poverty and become rich.

After the completion of the project, it also has comprehensive utilization benefits such as blocking sand, developing shipping in the reservoir area and improving downstream navigation conditions, and is one of the backbone power points of "West-to-East Power Transmission". The installed capacity of Baihetan Hydropower Station is14,000 MW, the guaranteed output is 5500MW, and the average power generation for many years is 64.095 billion kW h, including 30.265 billion kW h in dry season (12 ~ May), which is the backbone project of hydropower development in Jinsha River.
