Right of abode in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region:
According to paragraph 2 of Schedule 1 of the Immigration Ordinance that came into effect on July 1, 1997, any person who falls under any of the following One is a permanent resident of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and enjoys the right of abode in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region:
(a) Chinese citizens born in Hong Kong before or after the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

(c) Children of Chinese nationality born outside Hong Kong before or after the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and at the time of the birth of the child, the Chinese citizen complies with item (a) or (b) prescribed person.
(d) Non-Chinese nationals who entered Hong Kong with valid travel documents before or after the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, usually resided in Hong Kong for 7 consecutive years or more, and made Hong Kong their permanent residence.
(e) A child under the age of 21 who was born in Hong Kong to a permanent resident of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region referred to in item (d) before or after the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and who was born or reached the age of At any time before the age of 21, his or her father or mother already enjoys the right of abode in Hong Kong.
(f) Persons other than residents listed in items (a) to (e) who only had the right of abode in Hong Kong before the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
