Is Egypt a cabinet country?
Egypt is a country with a cabinet system.
The permanent constitution adopted by referendum on September 11, 1971 stipulates that Egypt is "a country with a democratic and socialist system based on the Alliance of Working People's Power", with "state ownership and cooperative ownership" economically. "Three forms of ownership and private ownership" coexist; the president is the head of state and the supreme commander of the armed forces; the president is nominated by the People's Assembly and elected by citizens. On May 22, 1980, the constitution was revised through a referendum, stipulating that the political system is "based on a multi-party system"; "the president can be re-elected multiple times", and a clause on "establishing a consultative conference" was added. The People's Assembly is the highest legislative body. Members are elected by universal suffrage; the Speaker and Deputy Speaker are elected once a year. The main functions are: nominating presidential candidates; presiding over the formulation and revision of the constitution; deciding on general national policies; approving economic and social development plans and national budgets and final accounts; and supervising the government.
Egypt has announced the dissolution of all political parties since the 1952 revolution. In 1976 Sadat announced the implementation of a multi-party system. There are 6 main political parties: ①The Egyptian National Democratic Party, the ruling party. Established in July 1978. ②Egypt’s New Wafd Party, the main opposition party. Established in February 1978. ③Egyptian Socialist Labor Party. Established in December 1978. ④Egyptian Liberal Socialist Labor Party. Founded in January 1976, its predecessor was the Liberal Socialists Forum. ⑤Egyptian National Progressive Unity Group Party. The predecessor was the National Progress Forum established in 1975 and changed to its current name in November 1976. ⑥ Umma Party. Established in July 1983.
International Online Report (Reporter Tu Longde): Egyptian President Mubarak issued a presidential decree on the 13th, officially appointing Ahmed Nazif as the prime minister of the new cabinet. The new cabinet is scheduled to be officially sworn in on the 14th.
The new cabinet consists of 34 ministers and ministers of state, of which 20 are members of the original cabinet and 14 are joining the cabinet for the first time.
Among the important departments of defence, interior affairs, diplomacy, justice and news, only the former Defense Minister Tantawi and Interior Minister Adli continue to serve. The Foreign Minister is taken by Egypt's former Ambassador to the United Nations Gheit, and the Justice Minister Leyil, the former governor of Giza Province, served as the Minister of Information, and the former Minister of Tourism Beltaj was appointed.
This Egyptian cabinet reshuffle is considered to be the largest cabinet reshuffle since Mubarak became the president of Egypt in 1981. Through this reorganization, a group of older politicians who were considered the "veterans" of Egyptian politics faded out of the political arena and were replaced by a group of "young men" aged between 40 and 50 years old.
