What is the Dongyi ethnic group? What are the characteristics?
Dongyi is a Caucasian race living in the Bohai Rim region in ancient times, belonging to a broad Mediterranean subspecies. During the Quaternary Glacier Period, the whole of East Asia was covered by glaciers. Liaodong and Shandong Peninsula are the only areas in East Asia that are not covered by glaciers, so ancient humans lived in this area. Because of historical changes, most of Dongyi were assimilated by immigrants from the Central Plains and North China, and a few went north to become Manchu. For the appearance of descendants of Dongyi, see Zhang Lunshuo (Shandong Han nationality) and Xu Jinjiang (Manchu nationality).
