The biggest thing that happened in Cangzhou in the early Ming Dynasty was the "Prince Sweeping the North". The terrible catastrophe has been circulating among the people in Cangzhou for a long time-"the battle of Jingnan", which is called "the prince swept the north" by the people. This is actually a battle for the throne. In May of the 31st year of Hongwu in Ming Dynasty (1398), Zhu Yuanzhang died of illness. After Zhu Yunwen acceded to the throne, he was renamed Wen Jian the following year, and was known as his Emperor in history. Emperor Wen Jian accepted the advice of his recent ministers after he ascended the throne, and planned to cut down the vassals. Ming Taizu's fourth son, Judy, was made a prince and lived in Beiping. Wen Jian cut down the governors, which caused the prince's dissatisfaction. When Wen Jian tried to touch the prince, Judy, who was already prepared, surrendered to the imperial envoys and launched a rebellion. In the name of killing the traitors around Wen Jian, the prince of Yan sent his troops south, which was called "the teacher of Jingnan" in history. Zhu Yunwen immediately sent troops to the Northern Expedition, and launched a protracted tug-of-war in the vast area south of Peiping. At that time, Cangzhou was in the "section", with numerous wars and soldiers crossing the border, which was the hardest hit area. The people were almost completely annihilated, so Cangzhou people called the war "Prince Sweeping the North". With the war, there are millions of soldiers at every turn, advancing and retreating, trampling on the land and trampling on the people. The Yan army attacked the city and plundered the land, killed the prisoners and fell into the pit. Regardless of the military and civilians, those who do not obey will be killed. Confederate troops will inevitably hurt the people. The disaster of the war lasted for more than three years, and even if people were not killed, they would starve to death, freeze to death and die of illness. What is more tragic is that when the Prince of Yan decided to go straight to Nanjing, a large number of young people were forced to join the army because of insufficient troops. Men over sixteen and under forty-five. And killing women and children, burning houses and filling wells. In some places, the whole county town is deserted. Because of this, people hate this war. For 600 years, the word "the prince swept north" has been circulating among the people in Cangzhou. It was this very tragic war that caused the death of more than 60 thousand soldiers and civilians in Cangzhou. The ancient city was completely destroyed, and the people around it fled, and there was no one there. Later, immigrants were not allowed here, and the state government moved to the bank of the canal.
In this war, most villages were destroyed and most settlement names disappeared, leaving only 47 1. When people left behind in the war rebuilt their homes, they took broken walls as the "barrier" of the village name, leaving only a few houses as the village name "Liu She", which left an unforgettable impression on people for generations. At the beginning of Yongle in the Ming Dynasty, the imperial court moved its capital to Hongdong County, Luanzhou, Yongpingfu in Zhili, Nanjing in Jiangsu, Fengyang in Anhui, Jimo in Shandong and hundreds of thousands of people in Zhejiang, Shaanxi and Lanzhou, enriching the capital area. Most Cangzhou immigrants moved here around the second year of Yongle (AD 1404). Of the 6,290 settlement place names in Cangzhou today, 4,297 were formed during this period, accounting for 68.3% of the total, which basically formed the current situation of settlement place names in Cangzhou.
