Is traveling to Singapore visa-free?

Singapore does not exempt Chinese passports from visa exemption. If you go to Singapore with a Chinese passport, you need to apply for a Singapore tourist visa. The electronic visa is valid for 2 years and can be entered and exited multiple times.

If you are transiting, you can get a visa, but it is usually limited to 5 days.

The following materials must be provided when applying for a visa:

1. ?Passport: Original passport and copy of the photo page of the passport. The passport should be valid for more than six months (from the date of entry) and have at least one blank visa page.

2. ?Form 14A? Visa application form (original): An application form that is completely filled out in English and signed by the applicant.

3. ?Color photos: two (one to be posted on the form and the other for scanning). The photo should meet the following requirements:

Two-inch, color, white background recent photo taken within three months;

Front-faced photo without headgear (such as wearing a hat or accessories according to special religious or customary requirements) , hats or accessories must not obscure the applicant’s facial features).

4. ?Chinese ID card: original and copy. (Note: Those applying for a business visa only need a copy)

5. Visa fee: The visa fee is SGD 30 per person. Visa fees are non-refundable. The unit/travel agency designated by the Embassy charges additional service fees for visa fees. Starting from February 1, 2017, the Singapore visa fee will be uniformly fixed at RMB 300. The unified fee will include the visa fee of S$30 paid by the visa applicant to the Singapore government and the visa service fee charged by the authorized travel agency. ?

6. In addition, other materials required to apply for a tourist visa are as follows:

a. Proof of employment: If the applicant is an active employee, he must provide an employment certificate issued by the company where he works. An original copy of the certification letter. The certification letter must state that the company agrees to the leave, and specify the applicant’s time of employment, position and salary in the company in detail. The proof of employment letter must list the address, telephone and fax numbers of the company and relevant contact persons. Letters must be stamped with the official seal.

If the applicant is unemployed, he or she must provide documents proving his/her personal financial situation, such as bank deposit certificate (original and copy). There is no specific requirement for the amount of the bank deposit certificate, but the bank issuance date must be within 1 month of the visa application submission date. This certificate should truthfully reflect your financial ability.

b. Household register: Applicant’s household register (full book, each page: original and copy). If it is a collective household registration, you can provide the original and copy or apply for household registration certificate at the police station.

7. Original copy of form V39A (letter of introduction): a complete original copy filled in English by a contact person in Singapore (must be a Singaporean citizen or Singapore permanent resident over 21 years old). If you are applying for a business visa, the form will be completed in English by the representative of a company registered in Singapore (must be a Singaporean citizen or Singapore permanent resident over 21 years old).
