Better Life movie plot

Carlos, a Mexican illegal immigrant, was repairing gardens for wealthy people in Los Angeles. He wanted to bring a better life to himself and his son. However, unsatisfactory things happened one after another and he used to work. His truck is stolen, and his son descends into adolescent rage and crime.

Carlos is a man with a "black registered residence" who smuggled himself from Mexico to the United States and lives with a 14-year-old son. His wife left him. Carlos works as a gardener and does not risk his life going up and down trees to mow lawns for guests. His boss was preparing to return to China, and before leaving, he wanted to sell his truck and a load of gardener's tools. In order to have a better life, Carlos borrowed money from his sister and bought a car.

But on the first day of owning a car, Carlos's car was stolen by a man named Santiago. In order to recover the car and the life he was about to have, Carlos and his son began to search. Santiago's journey. Along the way, they saw the tragic lives of many Mexican immigrants with black hukou, the culture of Mexico, and the lives of people in the Spanish-speaking community. After finding Santiago, Carlos discovered that he had bought the car on the black market and that he had sent the stolen money back home. In desperation, Carlos could only go to the black market to "steal" his own car. The car was returned to the owner smoothly, but the car without a windshield was quickly targeted by the police. Without a driver's license and no legal immigration procedures, Carlos was quickly deported back to Mexico. His son had to live with Carlos' sister.

Four months later, Carlos once again embarked on the road of "smuggling" to the United States. He told himself that "home" was across the border, and all this was just for a "better life"...
