Introduction to Jiuzhou Town

Jiuzhou Town is located in the southern part of Qiongshan District, with a total area of ??about 126 square kilometers. Located at 19046' north latitude and 110024' east longitude, it is connected to Hongqi Town and Sanmenpo Town in the east; Jiazi Town in the south; it borders Ding'an in the southwest; it faces Xinpo Town and Longquan Town across the river in the west; it is adjacent to Yunlong Town in the north and crosses the Yangtze River in the south. It flows west of the town. The town has jurisdiction over 10 village committees, 103 natural villages, 107 economic societies, a total of 5,492 households, and a total population of 26,094. The town people's government is stationed in Jiuzhouxu (the total population of the whole market is 5920 people <including the officers and soldiers stationed there>). There is one regiment-level and two battalion-level troops stationed in Jiuzhouxu, which is the political, economic and cultural center of Jiuzhou Town. 1 The control scale of Jiuzhou Market Town has expanded from the original 3 square kilometers to the current 4.5 square kilometers. The agricultural economy has developed rapidly and commercial activities are frequent. The functions of the central Market Town have radiated to neighboring towns and villages. Jiuzhouxu has also been built into a small town with beautiful environment, cleanliness, civilization and order. Jiuzhou Town is one of the ten central towns in Haikou City. Jiuzhou is an ancient town with a long history2 and one of the ancient Qiongzhou prefectures. It was founded in about the fifth year of Zhenguan in the Tang Dynasty (631 AD) and was abolished in the fourth year of Xining in the Song Dynasty (1071 AD), lasting 441 years. It has a history of 1377 years since its founding.
