What is the difference between colleges and universities in Canada?

Take Lambton College in Canada and the University of Toronto as an example. The differences between the two are as follows:

Difference 1. The academic requirements are different.

High school sophomores at Lambton College in Canada can enter the basic preparatory courses offered by the college. Since they do not have a high school diploma, they cannot apply for contracted university schools. They can apply for Lambton College courses after graduating from the preparatory courses, and both Transfer credits after year. The University of Toronto requires completion of a four-year bachelor's degree undergraduate program with an average score of 75% or above.

Difference 2. The language score requirements of the two are different.

The language score requirements of the University of Toronto are IELTS academic module, with a total score of no less than 6.5 and no individual component less than 6. TOEFL IBT total score is not less than 100, writing is not less than 22, PBT total score is not less than 600, written expression is not less than 5.0. Lambton College in Canada English requires passing TOEFL 500 or IELTS 5.5, or taking an English test.

Difference 3. The nature of the two schools is different.

Lambton College was established in 1967. It is a non-profit public community college and one of the 24 applied technical colleges in Ontario, Canada. The University of Toronto is Canada's top public research university, recognized as Canada's top university in terms of comprehensive strength, and one of the top higher education institutions in the world today.

Difference 4. The professional settings of the two are different.

Lambton College is a college with a full range of categories and mainly at the junior college level. In other words, Lambton College is mainly junior college. The University of Toronto mainly offers undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral, MBA and other disciplines.

Difference 5. The learning channels between the two are different.

The University of Toronto has a green channel, and the green channel independent enrollment project originated from the University of Toronto Scarborough campus. After 15 years, the Green Channel Independent Enrollment Project has delivered batches of outstanding Chinese students to the University of Toronto. Before 2018, students could only enter the Scarborough campus of the University of Toronto for undergraduate academic studies through the green channel project.
