Before the rise of Avenue City, there was already a market in the south adjacent to it, called "Mongga". 1723 (in the early years of Qing Yongzheng), immigrants from Jinjiang, Nan 'an, Hui 'an and other places in Quanzhou, Fujian came here across the ocean. They fled to Dalongdong in the north first, and then moved to Dadaocheng, where they built markets, rebuilt temples and used Danshui River for trade. Since then, every time there was a shooting incident near the Taipei Basin, many people fled to Avenue City, which also made Avenue City an open and inclusive place. In A.D. 1856, the "Temple of Xiahaicheng" was built in Avenue City. Although this temple is small, it is one of the most important belief centers in Taipei.

Before the development of Taipei, Avenue City was originally the gathering place of Guimu clan society of Pingpu aborigines. It was not until the forty-eighth year of Kangxi (AD 1709) that Chen, a resident of Taiwan Province at that time, applied to the government for formal reclamation. It was not until Dalabao area, including Dadaocheng area, was developed that Han people gradually entered here and began a fair life in agriculture.

The Rise and Fall of Avenue City

After the Han people entered the reclamation, they lived quietly in the area of Avenue City. Until 1920, during the Japanese occupation of Taiwan Province Province, the Governor's Office of Taiwan Province Province implemented plans such as the local official system and the reorganization of administrative regions in Taiwan Province Province, abolished the three districts directly under the jurisdiction of Taipei Hall at that time, and established Taipei City, which was subordinate to Taipei State.

Because Avenue City is adjacent to Tamkang, Avenue City is called Daojiang. 1858, the Qing court was defeated by one of the British and French allied forces and signed the Tianjin Treaty. 1860 Danshui officially opened for trade, which led to the establishment of foreign firms by businessmen from Britain, America and other countries in Guide Street and Nanjing West Road along the Dadaocheng River, while foreign merchants encouraged farmers in the north to plant a large number of tea for sale at home. The tea trade led by foreign firms not only expanded the market, but also promoted the vigorous development of the economy here; Before and after Liu Mingchuan became the governor of Taiwan Province Province, the Danshui River in Avenue City was designated as a residential area for foreigners, and the freight, dock facilities and power communication were improved, which laid the foundation for the commercial prosperity of Avenue City.
