They believe that the standing army controlled by the government will become a tool to suppress people's freedom and rights. 1688 Article 6 of the Bill of Rights passed by Britain clearly stipulates: "It is illegal to recruit or maintain a standing army in the kingdom in peacetime, except with the consent of the National Assembly." Even in the so-called state of emergency, American federal troops are not allowed to interfere in state affairs unless invited by the state government. Therefore, the task of resisting British tyranny and oppression falls on the shoulders of militia composed of people with weapons. It was these militiamen, under the leadership of General Washington, who, after eight years of struggle, drove the British colonists out and finally established an independent and free country. Therefore, when 1789 "Bill of Rights" of the American Constitution was put forward by members of Congress, the right to "keep and carry weapons" was naturally written into it. Since then, allowing American civilians to hold and carry weapons has become the right of the sacred untouchables! Today, most Americans are proud of owning guns, despite the frequent occurrence of gun violence every year!
