So poor that the villagers ate all the relief food distributed by the government, leaving only one chicken to help the poor. So poor that everyone wants to go out of the mountains and change their lifestyle. The four children fled together in the dark to see the outside world.

Finally, seven families abandoned their ancestral businesses and came to the plain, all of them ran back, because the "being in the south of the Yangtze River" described by the poverty alleviation cadres was only the future. The reality is that there are no houses, no fields, no roads and no electricity. In their words,

It's very simple: build roads first, supply electricity and water first, and build infrastructure well, so as to provide better living conditions and attract more people to migrate to Jintan village.

However, in the 1990s, when leading cadres were inexperienced, we only had one word, such as "when the policy was met" and "when the regulations were met". And "to get rich, build roads first" is summed up by our decades of exploration and progress. Therefore, "the future just hasn't come yet" and "how long will it take for the future to come" have become the biggest problems facing Jintan Village.

Many times, what destroys a person's will is not how much you suffer, but that you don't know how much you will suffer. It's not how many difficulties and obstacles you will encounter, but that you don't know whether you can see a bright future after solving this difficulty and crossing this obstacle.

Just like someone said, there is a delicious piece of meat in front of you. As long as you run forward, you can eat it one day, but you can't see or touch it, and you don't know what day it is. However, development needs a long process. Many times, we are working hard, taking two steps and taking a step back, but the whole is still moving forward. The moment of real growth may be short, and we will gain something inadvertently.

Ningmin Town is a rare good play. Instead of being a hero and preaching to help the poor, it tells stories in the most authentic and grounded way in the northwest countryside.

The value of Ningmin Town lies in its affection, righteousness, flesh and blood. It doesn't just shout slogans and tell everyone what to do, but actually tell everyone what to do.
