What is a Schengen visa 1985 15 On June 4th, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg signed an agreement in the border town of Luxembourg, stipulating that their member countries will issue visas in a unified format for short-term stays, that is, Schengen visas. According to the agreement, tourists can legally visit all other Schengen countries as long as they have a valid visa in one of them.
By the end of 20 13, the number of Schengen member countries has increased to 26: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Italy, Greece, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Poland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Switzerland.
