On the second day of the new year, I flew to Hong Kong, my dream city. I once imagined that Hong Kong was a city surrounded by a blue sea. There will be trees everywhere, and there will be beautiful natural or artificial scenery everywhere. As a famous international fashion center, I expect Hong Kong to have both eastern and western cultures. When my plane flew over the bridge connecting Hong Kong, under the night sky, I saw that the city was decorated with thousands of lights like a starry sky.
The initial impression is not bad. But the next morning, everything turned into a disaster. When I walked out of the hotel in North Point, I was frightened by the city in front of me. There is only one word in my mind: chaos. I didn't expect Hong Kong to be so crowded. After all, big cities are like this. I thought I could stand it because I came from Shanghai. But I was wrong. I was completely shocked by the chaos and suffocation of this city.
Every street is a store, and every store is a commodity, not to mention how crowded the roadside stalls are. The whole city is like a grocery store. The street is so narrow that I can't see a two-way street all day. People crowded into subways, buses and cars, making it almost impossible to move in the city.
This city is really overbuilt. People should realize that when they constantly pursue more living facilities, space will become very limited. Overburdened land also threatens the prosperity of the city.
No one will enjoy life and scenery in crowded places like canned salmon. In view of Shanghai's rapid development and large-scale urban construction, I think Shanghai should learn important lessons from Hong Kong.
Careful planning is necessary, not only because overheated urban construction will bring economic crisis, but also lead to embarrassing situations like Hong Kong now.
Good urban planning is based on the development of the city. Designers should not only see the changes in 10 years in the future, but should be 100 years or even longer. Once we run out of land, we can't create any more land. Building more skyscrapers can't solve the living environment problem of the city. Satellite cities should be built to relieve the pressure in the city center. It is unwise to prohibit the migration of household registration by law, but it is time for the government to support and encourage the reduction of urban density.
Fortunately, Shanghai is not an island like Hong Kong, so we still have a chance to do better in the next 20 years (in terms of urban development level, Shanghai is currently about 20 years behind Hong Kong). Take preventive measures.
