Three Chu points
Dongchu: At the end of the Spring and Autumn Period, wuyue won the hegemony and occupied Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces (except Xuzhou). During the Warring States Period, Chu destroyed Yue and occupied wuyue. This new territory is called "East Chu" because it is in the east of the old place.
Western Chu: After the decline of Chu State, Ying Du, the capital, was conquered by the Qin Dynasty and slaughtered and destroyed. In order to avoid sharp edges, the Chu people moved eastward, and at this time, the hometown of southern Chu was no longer the center of Chu. In the process of Chu's northward advance, Lu was destroyed, Xuzhou in Anhui Province and the north of Huaihe River were occupied, and a large number of people immigrated to Huaibei. This area is called Xichu because it is located in the west of Dongchu.
In nature, southern Chu is the birthplace, eastern Chu is the conquest and assimilation area, and western Chu is the colony.
During the period of hegemony between Chu and Han, Southern Chu was vast and sparsely populated, and it had declined. The Western Chu in the Central Plains became the center of Chu people, and the center of the Western Chu was Xuzhou.
