Explanation of Kanto terms

"Guandong" generally refers to the area east of Shanhaiguan, which refers to the current three provinces of Heilongjiang, Jilin, Liaoning and the large area in eastern Inner Mongolia.

In different historical periods, this area has different names. For example, it was called Liaodong during the Ming Dynasty. It was also called Guandong during the Qing Dynasty. It is named Guandong because it is located east of Shanhaiguan.

The invasion of Guandong was a massive and long-lasting immigration wave in my country’s modern history. Specifically, it refers to the great wave of immigrants from Shandong, Hebei, Henan and other provinces who migrated to the Guandong region to make a living during the historical period from the end of the Qing Dynasty to the founding of New China.
