Holding the European Medical Insurance Card (EHIC) proves that buying insurance in the EU and China will get medical insurance, and apply for reimbursement of expenses according to the same standards as the people of the country and the rules and interest rates of the host country. If you don't have a medical insurance card, or you can't use a medical insurance card (such as a private hospital not covered by the EHIC plan), you still have the right to get medical treatment, but you need to pay the treatment fee and apply for reimbursement from your health insurance company after returning home.

China citizens of EU member States who apply for the European Medical Insurance Card (EHIC); European Economic Development Zone; European China citizens traveling in the EU and Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway) or Switzerland. Either you are a foreigner working in China and a member of the European Union, or you are a person who got a green card from the United States and a member of the European Union, and you can also get a European physical and mental health service card. However, in order to get this card, you must legally settle in the EU and pay taxes.

In some countries, European medical insurance cards are sold together with national medical insurance cards. You don't have to pay any fees, and you can get it free of charge at the health insurance company when you go abroad. The health care and social security systems in EU countries are different. You can get information about the medical industry in your country from designated national medical institutions, contact points in China, or European medical insurance APP.

The European Physical and Mental Health Service Card is used free of charge by EU member States (including Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland) when they need national medical care overseas. This card allows you to enjoy the same treatment as China residents. However, due to the differences in medical level among different EU member states, the cardholder cannot intentionally swipe his card to other countries to treat certain diseases, unless the cardholder has been approved by the auto insurance company or social insurance institution in that country.
