The history of Chengdu tells us the history of Chengdu from the pre-Qin Dynasty to the Ming and Qing Dynasties.
Silkworms are walking on the mulberry leaves, and I am traveling on the earth. Hi, everyone, we meet again!
I visited the "Sichuan Museum" not long ago. The collections and objects were amazing. It increased my knowledge and made people know Sichuan better.
Some netizens suggested that I go to the Chengdu Museum after seeing my travel notes. They said that the tall exhibition hall of "Chengdu Museum" will make people linger and praise it.
In fact, I had an idea for a long time. No, early in the morning on October 8, I arrived in front of the Chengdu Museum located on the west side of Tianfu Square.
This is the center of Chengdu, and Tianfu Square is the symbol.
Tianfu Square: Statue of Chairman Mao
Surrounding Tianfu Square, there are not only shopping malls, but also the Sichuan Library, Sichuan Art Museum, and Sichuan Science and Technology Museum, especially Mao Zedong. The tall statue of the Chairman waving his hand looks so warm and friendly in the center of the city, making people admire him.
There is a very unique modern building on the west side of Tianfu Square. The mesh-like steel structure covers the whole body, with holes passing through the middle of the building. This is the Chengdu Museum (new museum). Compared with the surrounding buildings, the Chengdu Museum is not a high-rise building, but its size is not small individually, giving people a stable, solid and restrained impression.
The banyan tree at the entrance is well protected and complements the main building and is very coordinated.
Chengdu Museum
Climbing up the stairs is the entrance to the museum.
Make an appointment at the ticket service window (no need to buy a ticket, just have an ID card), queue up to scan the epidemic prevention code, and go through security check before entering the exhibition hall.
There was a small knife in the small bag, which was blocked by the security check. When I was in trouble, the staff told me that there is a package storage point opposite. It is free. Can I go and store it?
This is a smart storage point, very convenient and worthy of praise.
Returning to the security checkpoint again, the staff raised their hands and let me go.
When entering the museum, the space feels so big.
Empty hall
The Chengdu Museum covers an area of ??about 17 acres, with a total construction area of ??65,000 square meters. The main building is divided into the south building and the north building. The exhibition hall is mainly in the north building. The first floor is the lobby, screening hall, and special exhibition hall; the first underground floor is for the special exhibition of "Man and Nature"; the second to third floors above ground are for "Flower Chong". "Jinguan City - Chengdu History and Culture Exhibition in Ancient Times"; the fourth floor is "Modern Times" and "Folk Customs"; the fifth floor is an exhibition of Chinese shadow puppets. The total exhibition area is nearly 20,000 square meters.
From the museum’s guidebook, I first came to the second floor. This is the fixed exhibition hall in the Chengdu Museum, Huazhong Jinguancheng - Chengdu History and Culture Exhibition (Ancient Chapter), this exhibition hall extends to the third floor. It is divided into four exhibitions, namely "Nine Heavens Create a Chengdu", which introduces us to Chengdu in the pre-Qin period; Chengdu from the Qin and Han Dynasties to the Southern and Northern Dynasties; Chengdu in the Sui, Tang, Five Dynasties, Song and Yuan Dynasties; and Chengdu in the Ming and Qing Dynasties.
With the presentation and narration of texts, pictures and objects in the exhibition hall, the history of Chengdu gradually becomes clear.
Shang Dynasty: Bronze Man Head
In the pre-Qin period, the Chengdu Plain was the origin of civilization in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River. Humans had lived here as early as the Paleolithic Age, represented by the Baodun Ancient City Ruins. The group of prehistoric city sites is the forerunner of urban civilization in the Chengdu period. The Sanxingdui and Jinsha ruins of the Xia, Shang and Zhou periods represent the peak of the ancient Shu civilization. During the Warring States Period, the ancient Shu Ming Dynasty established its capital in today's urban area of ??Chengdu. Qin merged with Bashu, Zhang Yi built the capital city, Li Bing built the Dujiangyan, and the city of Chengdu entered a new stage of development.
During the Qin and Han Dynasties, Chengdu, as the administrative center of Shu County, was the political, economic, and cultural center of the southwest region. The city was prosperous, one of the "Five Capitals", and rich in products, and was known as "Tianfu" in the world. In 221 AD, Liu Bei proclaimed himself emperor in Chengdu, and the "three-part world" pattern was formed. During the Jin and Southern and Northern Dynasties, Chengdu was the starting point of the "Henan Road" of the Silk Road and occupied an important position in the economic and cultural exchanges between Asia and Europe.
Qin and Han Dynasties: Stone Rhinoceros
During the Sui, Tang and Five Dynasties, after experiencing chaos and city expansion, the city of Chengdu continued to expand. With the economic center of gravity at that time moving south, by the late Tang Dynasty, Chengdu was It has developed into an important economic center in the country. At the end of the Tang Dynasty and the Five Dynasties, Western Shu had a stable society, with a large number of celebrities and dense Buddhist groves. Chengdu was famous for its "beautiful scenery, beautiful Roman brocades, numerous orchestral songs and dances, and rich craftsmanship".
Song Dynasty: Taofang
During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, Zhu Yuanzhang, the founder of the Ming Dynasty, implemented the three-si system and the vassal system in Chengdu to strengthen the control and management of Sichuan. The establishment and implementation of these systems have achieved very good results. Over a long period of time, they have shown a trend of political stability, social tranquility, and sustained economic and cultural development. The Qing Dynasty rebuilt military and political institutions in Sichuan and rewarded immigrants from various provinces for colonization in Sichuan, triggering an unprecedented wave of immigrants. During this period, Chengdu's urban construction and renovation, social and economic development, and cultural and educational renaissance once again strengthened its status as a political, economic, and cultural center in southwest China.
Ming Dynasty: Glazed Pottery Attendant Figurines
