Huanjiang Ancient Zhou Demonstration Area

In response to the problems of shortage of land resources, infertile soil, low vegetation coverage and low forest coverage in karst areas (immigration areas), mountains are closed for afforestation in the demonstration area, and deforestation and mountain reclamation are prohibited. By promoting biogas and firewood-saving stoves, we have achieved good results by reducing and eliminating the harvesting of firewood. As a result, forest productivity increased by 17.2% to 23.4%, and biomass increased by an average of 27.1%. In the Kenfu Demonstration Area (immigration area), according to the plan, the hillslopes and mountain tops with an angle of greater than 25° in the demonstration area are closed for forestation, and management is carried out on a piecemeal basis and by households, combining responsibilities and profits, with the area reaching more than 800 acres.
