The 2006 Blue Book of Urban Competitiveness: China Urban Competitiveness Report No.4 was released in China Academy of Social Sciences this morning. The report was led by Dr. Ni Pengfei from the Institute of Finance and Trade of China Academy of Social Sciences. Experts from four places across the Taiwan Straits joined hands for the first time, and nearly 100 experts from well-known universities and local scientific research institutes such as Nankai, Tsinghua, Peking University, Chinese University of Hong Kong, Macau University and Taiwan Province University of Political Science jointly completed it.

Nine cities in Hongkong, Macau and Taiwan Province Province were included in the research system for the first time. The report launched the largest brand refining in China so far, refining the core advantages of 200 cities in China into brands; For the first time, the report added structural indicators reflecting scientific and technological innovation to the indicators of urban competitiveness. The annual theme of the report is "Real Estate Market: A Barometer of China City". At the same time, the report makes a comparative study on the background of urban competitiveness: 100 countries or regions and 15 urban agglomerations. The report was recently published by Social Science Literature Publishing House and distributed nationwide.

This report measures and compares the comprehensive competitiveness of 200 cities in China. The top 20 cities are Hong Kong, Taipei, Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Kaohsiung, Macau, Hsinchu, Keelung, Ningbo, Suzhou, Tainan, Tianjin, Xiamen, Dalian, Wuxi, Shenyang and Qingdao. (Source: China Network)

The report found that:

The competition pattern is clear. From strong to weak, it is Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, the eastern coast, the central region, the northeast region and the west region, showing an obvious pattern. The advantages and disadvantages of the five eastern coastal regions are Yangtze River Delta, Pearl River Delta, Shandong Peninsula, West Coast of the Taiwan Strait and Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei.

The competitive landscape is changing rapidly. The competitiveness of Chinese mainland city is improving rapidly, while that of Taiwan Province province is growing slowly. The competitiveness of some cities in central, northeast and western China has improved rapidly; But on the whole, the gap between east, west, north and south is widening.

The competition pattern fluctuates in the short term. Affected by overheated real estate and macro-control, the competitiveness of individual cities in the Yangtze River Delta and Pearl River Delta, which rely on high investment and high housing prices, has declined.

The competition pattern in different regions is different. The eastern manufacturing cities, which grew rapidly in the past, are facing difficulties in resources, factors and technology. The comprehensive advantages of leading cities such as Wuhan, Shenyang, Changsha, Chengdu and Chongqing in the northeast and midwest began to exert their strength, but the distance between small and medium-sized cities and leading cities widened.

At the same time, the report calculates and analyzes the eight sub-competitiveness of 60 cities with the strongest comprehensive competitiveness. Among them,
