The Origin of Yunyang "Meteorite"

So how did the "cloud" in Yunxian County come from? Answering this question is quite complicated.

There have always been many theories about the origin of clouds. The first theory is that it comes from meteorites. Some people say that in the past, people called the local area "meteor sun" because of the falling of meteorites. Later, the local people changed the word "meteor" to "Yunyang", which is the origin of Yunyang's name.

The second view is that it originated from Wu Zixu's famous work Wu. Some people say that Wu Zixu borrowed an army from Wu to attack Chu for revenge. Hearing that the King of Chu had ascended the throne in Yunxian County, he led his troops to Yunxian County, and the King of Chu fled to Fangling. So Wu Zixu stationed troops in Yunxian County. After Wu left, people named his name "membership system" to commemorate him. Later, people added a "city" to the right of "member", and "city" was written on the right side, so "member" became the "rhyme" we see today.

The third view holds that the word "rhyme" is similar to the word "rhyme". [Qing] Shaanxi Tongzhi records, [Qing] Hubei Tongzhi Yu records, historical research and so on. There are records: Wanxi Wuguan, Yun Guan. In Yun Guan and Collection of Solutions, Guangxu said: "Publishing House: Hanzhong. Also known as the word field'.' Xi is also called Xi, which is similar to Xi.

The fourth argument comes from the cover of Historical Records. Some articles say that the word "Yunyang" originated from a loan word in Historical Records. According to the phonological transformation, the word "cloud" in Yunyang is investigated, and it is considered that it is transformed from the pronunciation of "cloud" in Yunyang.

The fifth view is that it originated from immigration. It is said that Yunyang is the seat of two ancient countries, and now Anlu in Hubei is the seat of the ancient country. The ancient country destroyed Chu first, then the cloud. When the cloud perished, its nobles were forced to move to the old country (mainly referring to the land of Yunxian County now) to live together, and this place was later named, hence the name. It is also said that after the Battle of Chu Yun Pu Sao in the Spring and Autumn Period, the destroyed Yunzhou adherents were forced to move northward to Yunxian County today, so there was a "Yun" in this area.

The sixth view is that it originated from ancient Yun State. Ancient documents such as Notes on Water Classics recorded: "The Hanshui River is in the east of Yun Xiang County, so it is in the south of the city, so it is called Yun Xiang Beach ..." Geography said: "There is a pass, and Li Qi thinks Yunzi is a country. Jin Taikang established the county in five years. "There are also Reading Historical Records, A Record of the Unification of Qing Dynasty, Shaanxi Tongzhi and so on. Today, many people hold a similar understanding. For example, Ci Yuan commented on Yun County: "Yun County belongs to Hubei Province and is the country of Yun Zi. "Another example is the Textual Research on the State of Chu, which said that Yunzhou was a branch of the foreign country and moved south to Yunxian County, Hubei Province because it did not want to belong to the Shang Dynasty. After being made a viscount at the beginning of the Zhou Dynasty, Yunguo went into the city with his daughter surnamed Zi and became the country of Yunxi or Yunzi.

Most importantly, we believe that the first statement cannot be verified in the literature. I have consulted many historical documents, including Yun Xian Zhi, Yun Yang Fu Zhi and Hubei Tong Zhi. There is no record of meteorite phenomenon in Yunxian county, and there is no record of what Yunyang calls "meteorite".

The second statement is impossible. Wu Zixu Wu Bing's invasion of Chu was a great event in the late Spring and Autumn Period, and official records such as Zuo Zhuan, Spring and Autumn Period, Historical Records, etc. Judging from the escape route of King Chu Zhao, it is impossible for Zhao Haoqi to come to Yun County today. Zhao Haoqi attacked the capital under the pressure of Wu Bing. He first waded through the meandering water (that is, Suishui), crossed the Yangtze River, and then entered Yunmengze (when Yunmengze crossed the Yangtze River from north to south). After being attacked in Jiangnan, he felt unsafe, so he crossed the Yangtze River and took refuge in the hometown of Anlu in Jiangbei. At this time, the land of the old Yun had become the Chu county, and Zhao Haoqi was afraid of the aristocratic forces in the old Yun country. This place is not far from the Yangtze River. It is entirely possible for Zhao Haoqi to cross the Yangtze River from Jiangnan and take refuge here. However, when Wang Zhao crossed the Yangtze River from the south of the Yangtze River, he immediately fled to Yun County in the northwest of Hubei, then from Yun County to Fangling and then to Suizhou in the southeast, which was impossible under the objective conditions at that time.

The third and fourth statements are not credible. Whether "rhyme" and "rhyme" are similar in font or clerical error; It doesn't matter whether "rhyme" and "rhyme" can use phonetic symbols. Let's just examine whether they refer to the same place or two different places. According to "Geography of the Pre-Han Dynasty" and other documents, Shiyan in the Western Han Dynasty belonged to Hanzhong County in the Han Dynasty. Hanzhong county governs 12 county, including Yunyang county, Xixin county and Changli county (Xixin county and Changli county are now Yunxian county). In Changli County, there is a bet on Yun Guan. It can be seen that "Yunyang" and "Yun" were already different places and two place names in the Han Dynasty. "Yunyang" and "Yun" have coexisted since the Han Dynasty. Therefore, it is not credible to say that "rhyme" is transformed from "rhyme" or that "rhyme" is transformed from "rhyme" into pinyin letters.

The fifth statement is unreasonable. After the State of Chu annexed a country, it was often designated as Chu County, which was a pioneering work of the State of Chu. Shortly after the battle of Pusao, the state of Chu was destroyed and established as Chu County. The cloud died after the country perished. In other words, when the country was destroyed, the country was already a Chu county. If the adherents of Yun want to avoid Chu, how can they move from one county of Chu to another to avoid Chu? In addition, in order to guard against the heritage of the annexed country, Chu often moved from an uncontrollable place to an easily controlled place, such as Qi State, Luo State and so on. So how can Chu simply move the adherents of Yun to the neighboring countries of Qin Jin that compete with him? Is this easy to control? This is so unreasonable. Unless there is a possibility, that is, Yunxian was once one of the old places of Yunxian people, which is another matter.

Regarding the sixth statement, we think it is credible. Yunxian county was once a land of clouds, which has been recorded in a large number of ancient books, and is also verified by modern people. According to the research of Shiyan Kingdom, Yun Kingdom is a very ancient kingdom, which has been active in Xinzheng area of Henan since Yao Shunyu, Xia and Shang Dynasties and Western Weekends. One of his descendants once moved to Yun County, Shiyan City, Hubei Province, and later moved to Anlu County, Hubei Province. Finally, it was destroyed by Chu in the Spring and Autumn Period. The period of Yun Guo's activities in Yun County should be eleven years before the Duke Huan of Zuo Zhuan, because later Yun Guo was located in Anlu area, where it was destroyed.

Through the above analysis, we think that Yun County's Yun and Yun Yang House's Yun should come from Yun Zhou in ancient times.

As for how Yunyang's "Yang" came from, the problem is much simpler. Regarding "Yang", there is a custom in the naming of place names in ancient China: "the water in the north is Yang" and "the water in the south is Yin". For example, Luoyang city is named after being located in the north of Luoshui; Xianyang city, north of Weishui, hence the name; Another example is Huaiyin City, which is named after being in the south of Huaishui. Therefore, Yunyang's "Yang" is named after Yunxian County, where the government is located, is located in the north of Hanshui River.

Therefore, the name of Yunyang House is named after the "cloud" in Yunxian County, where the house is located, and the "yang" in the north of Hanshui River.
