Do you think the French are the most acceptable people as long as they respect their culture?

After living in France all my life, as an English speaker and a "visible minority", I tend to agree that, on the whole, in recent centuries, that is, in the era of a "modern country", France has developed rapidly (within the first generation! ) assimilated different immigrants. Before the establishment of "nation-state", the concept of "state" was loose and the boundary was unclear. Most people only know their neighboring communities and very local languages/dialects. Therefore, in many aspects, the concept of "accepting" immigrants is a very modern assumption; Before that, people could move freely because the border was not effectively controlled.

Today, French surnames are more diverse than American surnames, which proves the wave of immigration for centuries. Since the18th century, those famous leaders listed as "ethnic minorities" in the United States have always been a part of French history, and the anti-slavery and anti-discrimination laws are centuries earlier than those in the United States (for metropolitan France).

Here are some facts to support my impression that France is very receptive to those who absorb and adhere to French philosophy:

1. Outstanding figures-French immigrants (18th century to present)

Thomas Alexander Dumas (1762- 1806) was born in a slave family in the West Indies. 1776, his noble father took him to France, where his son was educated and freed.
