If landing visa, does it matter if Thailand does not renew the contract during the epidemic?

Many China students choose Thailand as a third country transit point. But the quarantine period is 14 days, while the visa on arrival is only 15 days. Everyone needs to pay attention to the specific calculation method of 14 day isolation period. What should Thais do if it may expire?

Does it matter if landing visa doesn't renew his contract?

After the "14" incident was confirmed, another problem about the expiration of the visa to Thailand appeared.

Visa on arrival, valid in Thailand 15 days. If we don't count the day of entry, there are still 14 days, which means that our landing visa will be valid until the 23rd. Many people said that they don't have to worry about this problem, because the extension fee is 1900 baht, and there will definitely be many people waiting in line at the immigration office in Thailand. You can be fined 500 baht for one day overdue. But I still want to make sure.

For this matter, I made another call to the New Zealand Immigration Bureau. Although the immigration operator did not explicitly urge me to renew my contract, he repeatedly stressed to me that immigration requires us to "all the procedures for entering and leaving the third country must be legal."

So, we renewed the fee on 18. There are many people waiting in line. We went at 7 am and got a new visa at 5 pm.

Whether it is necessary to postpone the signing of the contract is indeed a matter of opinion, but I personally suggest not to take any risks.

Immigration Thailand announced the expiration of visa on arrival.

The Immigration Bureau of Thailand recently announced that China tourists stranded in Thailand due to the closure of Wuhan, Huanggang and Ezhou airports will be exempted from detention punishment in Thailand. From now on, the scope of application of the above policy will be extended to all China citizens who have entered the country with tourist visas or landing visa due to the novel coronavirus epidemic and stay in Thailand. The specific procedures will be handled directly when they leave the country.

The notice said that Thailand stressed that the introduction of this temporary policy does not mean that China citizens can stay in Thailand for a long time at will. China citizens who enter the country with tourist visas or tourist arrival visas and are stranded due to the epidemic need to extend their visas. They need to send letters to the China Embassy and Consulate, and the Immigration Bureau will handle them as appropriate. As usual, the Immigration Bureau of Thailand will charge 1900 baht (about 420 yuan RMB).

In view of the above policy of Thailand, the China Embassy in Thailand will issue free letters of consular assistance to China citizens who intend to apply for visa extension.

According to the notice of the Embassy, the applicant for the letter of consular assistance is a citizen of China, who recently entered Thailand with a tourist visa and landing visa, but was unable to return to China due to the epidemic, and intends to apply for a visa extension. When applying, you should provide the original China passport and a copy of the information page, visa page or landing visa entry stamp page, and leave your contact information in the copy.

The embassy said that if more than one person needs to handle it at the same time, one person can handle it with all the materials; If you need to consult relevant policies or requirements, you can call the embassy or consulate to get insurance.

In addition, Colonel Cheng Lun, deputy spokesman of the Immigration Bureau, reminded the China public of the following matters:

1. People from all provinces and cities in China who are stranded in Thailand due to the epidemic need to apply to the Embassy of China in Thailand for a letter of explanation, and then go through the extension formalities at the Immigration Bureau;

2. China people whose visas have been extended for seven days cannot directly apply to the Immigration Bureau for another extension. Instead, you should go to the China Embassy in Thailand 3-4 days before the visa expires to prove the reason for the extension, and then go to the Immigration Bureau to extend it again;

3. Although the Immigration Bureau exempted the detention fine, it does not mean that people in China can stay for a long time at will. If they don't have a letter from the embassy and apply for an extension correctly, they will be recorded by the immigration bureau, and those who reach a certain number of days will be blacklisted. Attention, compatriots!
