Tanggu is located at the intersection of Beijing-Tianjin city and the city belt around Bohai Sea, and the center of Tianjin Binhai New Area. The region has a total area of 859 square kilometers and a permanent population of 450,000.

Tanggu has a history of over 800 years. In the eighth year of Song Dynasty (A.D. 1048), the Yellow River moved northward three times and entered the sea near Tianjin. The Yellow River "one stone, six buckets of mud" has amazing land-making ability, and "muddy water penetrates it to level the ground". By the second year of the Southern Song Dynasty (A.D. 1 128), Tanggu land was gradually formed. Shell dike reflects several eastward movements of coastline, which is evidence of land formation in Tanggu area. After Tanggu became land, people gradually came here to cook fish with salt and gradually formed a village. In the Yuan Dynasty, water transport by sea was opened, but the Yuan government stationed troops to stop it, resulting in an increasingly large population. After Judy, the founding emperor of the Ming Dynasty, established Dadu (now Beijing), the immigrants here reached a climax, and Dagu and Beitang became larger towns. At the end of the Qing Dynasty, Dagu set up a government office in Xietai and Tanggu set up a government office in Tongzhi. Before liberation, Tanggu was never built independently, and the banks of Haihe River belonged to different administrative regions. On the eve of liberation, the south bank of Haihe River belongs to Tianjin County, and the north bank of Haihe River belongs to Ninghe County. After liberation, the two parties merged to form Tanggu District (Tanggu and Dagu) in Tianjin, and/kloc-0 was renamed Tanggu District in February, 952.

Tianjin Tanggu foreign goods market is located in Fushun Road, Tanggu District, near Tianjin Development Zone, southwest of Hebei Road overpass of Jintang Highway. It is the first market in northern China that specializes in the trading of imported goods. After three-phase expansion, the market construction area is 6,543,800+6,000 square meters, and there are more than 2,000 fixed booths. The main products are automobiles, motorcycles, household appliances, photographic equipment, clothing, watches, lighters, stereos and so on. Most of them are imported original products. After continuous development, it has become famous all over the world, known as a pearl in the market and coastal commerce.

In 2002, Tanggu District Government decided to build a foreign goods market pedestrian street. It was completed on April 12 and July 12, with a total investment of more than 40 million yuan. It starts from Jilin Road in the east and ends at Zhongxin North Road in the west, with a total length of 375m and a width of16-28m. The pedestrian street highlights the classical European style and deliberately embodies "foreign goods, foreign flavors and foreign brands". Low-rise European buildings on both sides of the street, with changeable roof geometry and elegant facade decoration. 9200 square meters of pavement, Roman stone paving, magnetic field lines, giving people unlimited time and space reverie. The symbol of auctioning pearls has sprung up suddenly and has rich meanings. Five groups of bronze sculptures and three groups of white marble sculptures are famous classical celebrities in Europe, either cheerful or meditative, or in groups of three or five, or sitting alone in a corner, decorating the streets and showing visitors endless exotic cultures. As night falls, classical street lamps are like polite hosts, accompanying tourists from all directions to wander in the soft light.
