This insult was read by Zhang from beginning to end and deeply engraved into his young mind. So when I left, I swore: When I come back, I will kill you all before I can vent my hatred!

In addition, there is a very folk version: once, Zhang's troops were stationed at the junction of Hubei and Sichuan, and one day Zhang walked out of the barracks and shit on the ridge. After defecation, Zhang conveniently pulled a handful of grass Sichuan to wipe his ass. Unexpectedly, he caught a bunch of nettles (also called hemp) and immediately screamed with pain. So he reached into Hubei and pulled out a handful of grass to wipe his ass. This time, the grass in Hubei is soft and relaxed. As a result, Zhang made a feud with Sichuanese: Sichuanese are so fierce that even the grass is like this, so I killed them from here. Therefore, when Zhang occupied Sichuan, a sudden Shu came.

Folklore can only be laughed off, not credible. We didn't find any evidence to prove that Mr. Lu Xun said that the Zhang Massacre was revenge against Li Zicheng. But through these two stories, we can still make two points clear: first, Zhang does have a strong desire for revenge and abnormal psychology; Secondly, Sichuanese have always felt unreasonable about Zhang's cruelty.

The second statement: Manchu slaughtered Sichuan and planted Zhang.

Diachronic basis: "people and thieves are mixed, and jade is difficult to distinguish."
