If I have an Australian green card, but I don't want to become an Australian citizen yet, can I extend it?

If you get an Australian green card, but don't want to become an Australian citizen, you can also extend the Australian green card. If your Australian green card (permanent resident visa) is about to expire, you have not met the requirements for naturalization, or you are unwilling to become an Australian citizen, then you can extend your green card according to the following circumstances:

1. If you are in Australia and don't plan to leave soon, you don't need to apply for any extension visa. Although your round-trip visa for permanent residents has expired, as long as you don't leave the country, your permanent resident status will not be affected by the expiration of your round-trip visa. When you need to leave the country, you can apply to the Immigration Bureau for an extension of your visa, as follows:

(1) If you have lived in Australia for two years or more in the past, you will get a five-year multiple-entry permanent resident visa extension;

(2) If you have lived in Australia for less than two years in the past, you can get a three-month multiple-entry permanent resident visa extension;

If you are outside Australia, you must apply to the Australian Embassy for an extension before the visa expires. The conditions are the same as above.
