What do you need to be a doctor in Hong Kong?

Four steps to becoming a doctor in Hong Kong 1. First confirm whether your qualifications meet the requirements of Hong Kong doctors and the Hong Kong Medical Council?

If you want to work as a doctor in Hong Kong, you must first meet the following conditions: graduated from the University of Hong Kong or the Chinese University of Hong Kong with a major in medicine, or licensed and practiced as a Hong Kong physician LMCHK. Hong Kong doctor LMCHK license is mainly for medical personnel outside Hong Kong. When applying for a license, the following requirements must be met:

(1) The Medical Council of Hong Kong requires and pays the examination fee for medical practitioners in Hong Kong.

(2) Clinical graduates from mainland medical schools recognized by the Medical Council of Hong Kong and attending five-year undergraduate medical courses.

(3) If you are an on-the-job doctor, you need to hold a clinical practitioner's license and qualification certificate in China.

(4) Outstanding personality and able to provide relevant certificates.

If you meet the requirements in the first step, please submit your application to the Medical Council of Hong Kong.

2. Require to take the Hong Kong Medical Qualification Examination.

If you meet the criteria of 1, then submit your request to the Hong Kong Medical Council.

The process is as follows:

Log on to the website of www.mchk.org.hk to download the form 1: fill in the application form → pay the application fee 1, HK$ 590 → submit the application form, proof of payment, ID card, academic record, original and photocopy of graduation certificate on site (address: licensed secretary of the Hong Kong Medical Council, 4th floor, Jockey Club Building, Hong Kong Academy of Medicine, 99 wong chuk hang road, Aberdeen, Hong Kong).

If you get the qualification confirmation, you can start preparing for the exam. The examination contents are as follows:

Step 3 prepare for the LMCHK exam

The exam is divided into three parts:

(1) professional knowledge (basic medical knowledge examination), * * * is divided into two volumes, each volume 120 multiple-choice questions. This part of the exam aims to test candidates' professional knowledge. Candidates should take the following subjects: basic science, medical ethics/social medicine, internal medicine, surgery, orthopedics, psychiatry, pediatrics and obstetrics and gynecology.

(2) Medical English (IELTS English score is not required for the time being). Generally speaking, if an article is given in English, candidates need to translate the content of the article. The purpose of this examination is to ensure that the English level of candidates is sufficient to meet the English working requirements of medical practitioners in Hong Kong.

(3) Clinical aptitude test: a test of clinical aptitude and professional knowledge. The scale of examinations accepted by candidates generally refers to: women and children (internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology and pediatrics). It is divided into major departments and minor departments. For example, internal medicine is a big department, which will organize ten real patients (usually for follow-up) to diagnose candidates and write medical records according to the procedures of doctors in Hong Kong. (Now I promise to communicate with patients in Chinese, but the medical record statement needs to be written in English. ) This part of the exam needs to pass the top of the second part before you can take it. If you fail the first two stages, you are not required to take the third part of the exam.

Examination time

Every year in March and September, the top part can be tested together with the second part, and the third part can be tested in May, June and 1 1 and 65438+February (see official notice for specific time).

4. Participate in 12 months of residency practice.

After passing the examination, candidates must work as resident interns in recognized hospitals or medical institutions, and accept the internship and assessment for a period of 12 months. During this period, candidates will get clinical consultation in order to understand the local medical level and common diseases. Candidates who have successfully completed their internship can apply to the Committee for registration.
