According to the latest news from the Australian Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC), Australia has readjusted the evaluation level of student visas in various countries and relaxed the student visa policy. The following two types of visas in China have been adjusted from AL4 to AL3:

Category 570- Independent ELICOS (Intensive English Course for Overseas Students)

Core Tip: IELTS scores are no longer required to apply for a 570 visa.

Category 575- Non-academic courses only include some basic, transitional or other preparatory courses, such as undergraduate or master's preparatory courses. After completing the course, you can't get a degree, diploma or other formal certificate.

Core Tip: The IELTS requirement for applying for a 575 visa has been reduced from 5.0 to 4.5, and the longest supported English course allowed has been increased from 20 weeks to 30 weeks.

This policy will take effect on September 1 2008.

The Australian government's new policy of changing the assessment level of 570 and 575 visas from the original level 4 to level 3 is great news for China students, especially those whose IELTS scores have not yet reached 5. This is mainly reflected in the following points:

1, IELTS scores no longer need to apply for a 570 visa, which means that students without English scores can apply for an independent intensive English course visa to study English courses in Australia first, and then apply for a main course visa after their English scores meet the requirements. This avoids the situation that many students want to study in Australia, but their IELTS scores can't meet the requirements of visa application, and provides more students with the opportunity to study in Australia.
