Why was the short film "Red Bean" shortlisted for screening at the Shanghai International Film Festival?

"Red Bean" took more than two years from script conception to funding to completion of filming and production. This is my first science fiction feature film, and it is undoubtedly a huge challenge for me.

It is very difficult to shoot a live-action science fiction movie. The location selection alone takes several months, and the huge post-production workload took nearly 5 months. It is really stressful for a small creative team. It was huge and we finally stuck with it.

The core of this movie is the noun "red bean" in the title. In Chinese culture, the meaning of "red bean" is deeply rooted in the hearts of the people. It represents family affection, love and longing. Mother and child are the closest blood connection, and the destruction and disappearance of either of them will bring huge pain to the other. This is not the case for humans and the earth, but the earth can live without humans, but humans cannot. If we don't protect the earth from now on, the future, no matter how beautiful the possibilities are, will be as pale and lonely as hell.

Thank you everyone! I wish everyone a happy viewing!

The earth’s environmental problems are becoming increasingly serious, and major film festivals around the world are welcoming works with environmental themes. In recent years, China has spared no effort in protecting the environment and ecology.

Chen Yu also hopes that through "Red Bean", he will encourage more outstanding film works to participate in this extremely urgent battle to protect the earth and protect human beings themselves. He hopes that the seed of "Red Bean" will continue to sprout at other international film festivals, allowing more and more audiences around the world to hear voices from China.
