Ya 'an is a prefecture-level city in Sichuan Province, located at the western edge of Sichuan Basin, at the foot of Qionglai Mountain, with Chengdu in the east and Ganzi in the west. Shimian County is located in the southwest of Sichuan Province, at the southernmost tip of Ya 'an City, bordering Hanyuan County and Ganluo County in the east, Yuexi County and Mianning County in the south, Jiulong County and Kangding County in the west and Luding County in the north. Shimian County has a mountainous climate based on the mid-latitude subtropical monsoon climate, with concentrated summer rain, more night rain, less heavy rain and no autumn rain.
