Xin 'anjiang Hydropower Station is located in Tongguan Gorge on Xin 'anjiang River, the main stream of Qiantang River, in jiande city, a mountainous area in western Zhejiang. It is the first large-scale hydropower station to survey, design, manufacture equipment and construct on its own strength after the founding of New China, and it is also the hydropower station with the largest reservoir regulation capacity in East China Power Grid. 1April 1957, the main project started;1April 1960, the main project was basically completed, and the first unit was put into production;1June 1977, all nine units were put into production, with a total installed capacity of 62500 kW. The dam is a gravity dam with wide joints, the maximum dam height is 105m, and the basin area controlled by the reservoir is 10442km2, accounting for more than15 of the total basin area of Qiantang River, with a total storage capacity of 216.26 million m3, of which the flood control storage capacity is 4.732 billion m3 (equivalent to the volume of Taihu Lake).

The total investment of Xin 'anjiang Hydropower Station is 423 million yuan, the total cost is 33 1 10,000 yuan, and the unit kilowatt cost is only 4,995,438+0 yuan (excluding additional resettlement fees). It is a project with fast construction speed, low investment, good quality and great benefit among the existing power projects in China. 1978 won the Science and Technology Achievement Award of the National Science Conference.

Power station is responsible for frequency modulation, peak regulation and emergency standby in East China Power Grid, and plays an irreplaceable role in reducing coal consumption of thermal power units, improving power supply quality and ensuring stable, safe and economic operation of power grid. By the end of 1999, the cumulative power generation has reached 62.8 billion kW·h, which has effectively promoted the development of national economy and the improvement of people's lives in East China.

Power stations have made remarkable contributions to flood control, irrigation, shipping, fishery, fruit industry and tourism. The commercial fish fishing in the reservoir has been stable and high yield year after year, and some products have been exported to more than ten countries in Europe and America, with a total output of 45,500 t from 1989- 1998. There are 1078 islands in the 580km2 reservoir area, with beautiful water and scenery. Known as "Green Qiandao Lake", it has become a national model forest park, with a tourism income of about 500 million yuan only 1999. By reasonably adjusting the underwater discharge of the reservoir, the tidal bore in Hangzhou Bay will be washed away, which will provide fresh water resources for Hangzhou Waterworks and improve the quality of drinking water and industrial water for residents. According to the statistics of 1992- 1994, the reservoir bore will save Hangzhou more than 4 billion yuan from industrial shutdown. The reservoir impounded the flood for 26 times, and the peak flow was 1 10,000 m3/s, which avoided and alleviated the flood disaster of 20,000 hm2 farmland in Jiande, Tonglu and Fuyang towns, and reduced the economic loss of downstream areas by 700-800 million yuan in the 1990s alone.

The power station mainly supplies power to Jiangnan area centered on Shanghai, Nanjing and Hangzhou.
