Mexican drug lords are so powerful, why not set up their own government?

The United States is the largest drug consumer in the world, and more than 60% of the world's drugs are sent to the United States. However, Mexico is a very poor country, close to the United States. Because the drug market in the United States is in great demand, Mexico will naturally start the drug business. Now 96% of marijuana, 64% of cocaine and 58% of heroin in the United States come from Mexico. Mexico earns $64 billion a year from the US drug trade.

In order to develop drug trafficking business, some drug dealers in Mexico set up their own drug trafficking organizations, spent a lot of money to buy military weapons to form drug trafficking armed forces, and became powerful drug lords. Some American arms dealers provided military weapons to these drug trafficking organizations. Weapons are very sophisticated, including submachine guns, machine guns, rockets, and even armored vehicles and homemade tanks. Cutting-edge weapons sometimes surpass the local police.

Then some people wonder, why don't these drug lords overthrow the regime and become presidents themselves?

First, drug lords and the government have the same interest chain. When Mexican drug lords made their fortune, in fact, many of them relied on the government to do behind-the-scenes drug transactions. The government provides an umbrella for drug dealers' drug business, and drug dealers will also give the government certain benefits in return. Since drug dealers are protected by the government and get certain benefits, they will not have the idea of overthrowing the government and seizing power.

Second, drug lords are scattered and cannot form the power to seize power. There are six major drug trafficking organizations in Mexico, namely Gulf Group Juarez Group Aarela Lu Group and Los Zetas Group Sinaloa Group.

These six drug trafficking organizations restrict each other, which leads to the situation that drug trafficking organizations are scattered all over Mexico today. Due to the scattered drug trafficking organizations, it is impossible to form a powerful power grab. In other words, when a drug trafficking organization is strong, the convenience will also be suppressed and restricted by other drug trafficking organizations.

Therefore, when the Mexican government cracked down on drug traffickers, its goal was not to completely eliminate drug traffickers' organizations, but to control their power, so as to prevent one side's drug traffickers' organizations from becoming too powerful and threatening the government's rule, thus achieving the goal of maintaining social order and stability.

Third, drug dealers stop the inability to manage the country. There is a saying that those who win the hearts of the people win the world. No government in the world is established by gangs like drug dealers.

In fact, these drug trafficking organizations are also self-aware, and the leaders of drug trafficking organizations also know that they are incapable of governing the country. So their goal is to make money from drug trafficking and ask them to overthrow the government by force, and they also know that they can't rule the country.

For example, drug traffickers who overthrow the government by military force will not be recognized by the international community and will be punished. Managing the country is not only about money and force, but also about people's food, clothing, housing and transportation. Infrastructure construction also needs money. Drug trafficking organizations even know that their ability is drug trafficking and they are incapable of being the president of Mexico.
