But the older generation lived here, and they had feelings for it. This is what we usually call nostalgia.

People are very adaptable. When it doesn't rain, they rely on the weather to eat, grow crops and wait for it to rain. When it rains, they will be full and hungry. In order to have water to drink, people usually store rainwater in summer and snow in winter. Water is more expensive than oil. One piece of water should be used three times. That's how people managed to get by before liberation.

After liberation, people began to cultivate mountains and their lives improved. However, the harvest is not ideal, and "vegetables hanging vegetables" barely fill their stomachs. In order to help the poor, the state distributes food to this area free of charge every year. The common people eat food specially provided by the state. Although it relieves their worries, it cultivates farmers' inertia and they will muddle along. As long as they are hungry, they will not leave this place.

Since the reform and opening up, in order to help this area get rid of poverty and become rich as soon as possible, the state has called on poor counties in Xihaigu to move the whole village to the west to develop new places. The new place certainly has more development potential than Xihaigu, provided that you create a better life with your hands. My family is also a relocated household, about 92 years ago. That is, moving from remote ravines to villages and towns. In the ravine, there are mountains, water, fields and land, but the traffic, electricity, traffic and safety are closed by dogs. In towns and villages, there is little land, but there is water and electricity, and there are big permanent bicycles.

Because my uncle happened to be from the poverty relief office, my father responded positively to the call. He was the first to agree to move, but he was scolded for forgetting his roots. At night, people knocked at the door and smashed things. Many people are unwilling to move, and some old people even threaten to take medicine. There were more than 40 households in the village, and finally more than 20 households were moved. Those who haven't moved are happy, white houses and fertile fields. Moving out is even harder. Although the state has subsidies, most of them are on their own.

Now that we have settled down, with the pace of the country, we go to school, get married and work, our children go to good schools, have a building and a car, and our lives have improved.

A good life does not fall from the sky, but is the result of the hard work of several generations. As long as you pay, you will get something. The policy of "settling in the countryside" finally brought benefits to the people. On the Gobi desert, people have created a better tomorrow with hard hands.
