The professional evaluation is complicated. The Australian Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICAA), the Australian Institute of Certified Accountants, CPAA and the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA) are three institutions designated by the Immigration Department to be responsible for the professional qualification evaluation of Australian accountants.

English needs to reach the four sevens of A-level IELTS. Applicants with Australian education are exempted from the English requirement if they have completed the Skilled Migrant Internship Project Accounting: (SMIPA) (that is, the one-year accounting course, the so-called PY).

Work experience evaluation

1. Work experience must be closely related to the nominated occupation. Work must be paid and continuous, and work no less than 20 hours a week.
