Visit Huangmei Wuzu Temple
I visited in a hurry many years ago, but I couldn't visit carefully because of the rush of time.
I made a special trip to catch the cold wave today. There were few tourists and it was very quiet.
Passing through dongshan town and along the ancient mountain climbing road, the first thing you see is the Sakya Duobao Tathagata, which was built in the third year of Xuanhe in the Northern Song Dynasty. This pagoda has an octagonal five-story main body, more than six meters high. This pagoda is simple and heavy.
Not far away is the one-day gate, with four pillars and three doors, which is magnificent.
Go through Tianmen and start climbing. The ancient stone road bends upward and has a steep slope.
When you are tired, the next day will arrive. Ertianmen was founded in the Xuanhe period of the Northern Song Dynasty. Shaped like a covered bridge, there is a stream below. Let's have a rest here.
Moving on, we met the "Three Thousand Pagodas". As we have seen before, the stupas of Sakyamuni were built at the same time, and their shapes are basically similar.
On the way, the stone tablet on the roadside attracted my attention. Most stone tablets are clear and beautiful. The inscription, titled "The Story of Reviving Sitian", begins with the following words: "Guangdong came from the esoteric religion to the west, and was passed on to the master of Manchu in the Five Dynasties, and was reborn. At the age of seven, it proved to be true, evolved from Dongchan, and returned to the truth from Mao Feng ...". This paper briefly describes the life of the five ancestors, and then describes the hardships of monks in the twenty-three years of Wanli practice, donating land and wealth to tell future generations not to pay back, leaving money and so on.
Not far away stands a stone pillar about 20 cm square, which reads "the third generation of Qingshan Qianqigang Zen Master Tower" and endorses "the sixth year of Qing Kangxi", about two meters high. Judging from the inscription, it is a stone pagoda, and some components are suspected to be missing. This kind of stone pagoda is rare, and Master Jian Gang knows very little about it.
Not far from Tallinn, there are ancient monks buried. There was silence all around, and I slowly shuttled between the towers, stepping on fallen leaves, and the creaking audio-visual images under my feet were the whispers of history.
Moving on, a stupa stands in the middle of the road, with an octagonal level of seven and a height of more than six meters. On the front of the first floor, there is a Buddhist shrine with a Buddha statue in it. The top of the niche says "Ten Square" and the bottom says "Buddha", which shows that this tower is "Ten Square Buddha Pagoda". Seven names of the book Tathagata are written on the first floor and the other seven sides respectively. The tower body is more handsome than the first two towers, but the shape is basically similar, so it can be judged that the age is similar, indicating that the age of Dongshan Ancient Road should be similar or earlier.
Three days later, the mountain gate was made of granite, like a city gate. Built in the middle of the Tang Dynasty, it is estimated to be the oldest antique in Wuzu Temple.
Looking back at Dongshan Ancient Road, it seems that the air is filled with the breath of a thousand years' history, which is also one of the few ancient roads in the province.
Through the mountain gate, a covered bridge crosses the mountain stream, and the stream gurgles under the bridge. The name of this bridge is "Flying Hongqiao". The covered bridge worships the Buddha statue, and the master recites the scriptures peacefully. Talk to the master casually and tell me my understanding of "put down" and "don't miss". "Pedestrians here, put down the burden and have a rest. Get up and cross the temple. Don't miss it. Go in and say goodbye. " The master nodded and smiled at me. Then she explained it to me with her understanding, but unfortunately I couldn't understand her dialect. Of course, the meaning is not as simple as I understand.
In life, what should be put down and what should not be missed is a problem.
The Qiuer Building near Feihongqiao is said to have been built in the Ming Dynasty. How many good men believe in women and pray for more children and more happiness here.
Several ancient sandalwood trees by the stream, vigorous and tall, as strong as knives and axes, have experienced vicissitudes and witnessed the rise and fall of Wuzu Temple.
Looking up, there is a tall gate, four pillars and three imitation archways in Wuzu Hall. The memorial tablet of Wuzu Temple erected in the middle tells people that this is a temple named after the royal family. The couplet "One pulse follows the law, and two factions follow the law" illustrates the story of Huineng and Shen Xiu.
The rhyme on both sides of the mountain gate originated from the dispute between Shen Xiu and Huineng.
As the saying goes, if you don't know two people, you will come to Wuzu Temple for nothing.
Enter the mountain gate, followed by the Heavenly King Hall and the Ursa Major Hall. This temple has the style of the Tang Dynasty, which is very atmospheric and magnificent.
The vertical plaque "Hui Zhen Temple" on the Tianwang Temple is said to be named by Song Zhenzong, which also proves that the temple is named by the royal family. A pair of stone lions near the gate are relics of the Song Dynasty.
Temple buildings are built on the mountain, simple and solemn.
Pilu Temple, also known as Macheng Temple, is said to have been donated by Macheng people. During the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty, people in Macheng worshipped Wuzu Temple, which was brought from Macheng brick by brick, so it was called Macheng Temple. A pair of stone lions near the main entrance of the temple, obviously in Ming dynasty style, is proof.
The Real Body Hall was built in the Tang and Song Dynasties, and it is a palace-style building in the Qing Dynasty. Carving beams and painting buildings is magnificent.
The "Fayu Tower" in the temple is dedicated to the five ancestors and was destroyed in 16 (1927). In 24 years (1935), the statue of five ancestors was rebuilt and enshrined in the tower.
The Six Ancestors Monument Gallery tells the story of Huineng and Shen Xiu in detail.
The five ancestors wanted to carry on the family line, so they chose all the monks as priests and passed on the mantle to the best. The magic show of that year was recognized as the best, so all the monks didn't make a fuss. Shen Xiu thought twice and wrote a poem on the wall in the middle of the night. "I am a bodhi tree, and my heart is like a mirror. Always wipe, don't get dust. " Five ancestors saw it and smiled without a word. Monks saw it and hurried to tell it. When Huineng learned about this, he told all the monks that he didn't get the true meaning, and all the monks were amazed.
Huineng can't read, so please ask someone to write for him. "Bodhi has no trees, and it is not Taiwan in the mirror. There is nothing, so there is no dust. " When the monks saw it, they rushed to praise it.
Wuzu learned, come and check. My heart is full of joy and my face is expressionless. See Huineng, heavy rice. Just knock it three times with a mord. Hui Neng is smart and understands this idea. (This story is familiar. In The Journey to the West, the Monkey King's master is a true biography with the same plot, which shows that his story is widely spread. )
In the middle of the night, Huineng went to Wuzu's residence to listen to the teacher. Hui Neng got the word, and the mantle of five generations' inheritance was in Hui Neng. At this time, Huineng has not yet been shaved, which is difficult to convince people and is afraid of disputes. Five ancestors sent Huineng to the Yangtze River overnight. Tell Huineng to return to the south, remain anonymous, wait for the opportunity, and promote Buddhism.
This is the story of Huineng and Shen Xiu, because Huineng, the sixth ancestor, got the mantle, and there were many disciples in Huineng. This story also originated from the words of Huineng's disciples, many of whom belittled Shen Xiu. In fact, Shen Xiu was the national teacher of three generations of Tang emperors, and his ability and status were unparalleled. Shen Xiu contributed greatly to the development of Zen. There are two schools of Zen, namely, Nanzong and Beizong. It was only later that Nanzong developed better and even unified the whole country.
Continue up the hill and climb Tian Tong Road. Those who worship, crawl and be pious go to heaven.
At the top of Tian Tong Road is Wuzu Pagoda, and Wuzu Damanta contains the relics of Wuzu Hongren.
The Hongren of Wuzu was really destroyed in 16 (1927), and the Daman Pagoda of Wuzu was built in 2 1 (1932).
At this point, the visit to Wuzu Temple is over. Knowing its stories and legends, its Zen is still meaningless. Perhaps Zen is unspeakable and can only be realized.
