Why do Vietnamese call Cantonese-speaking Guangfu people "mountain friends"?

There are 54 ethnic groups in Viet Nam, the most special of which is Shanyou, which was formed by the migration and settlement of Cantonese in China in the Ming Dynasty. Up to now, many people there speak Cantonese instead of Vietnamese, and most mountain friends can write Chinese characters. In fact, it's like a tribe from China immigrated to Vietnam, so the Vietnamese named this special group "Guangdong Mountain Tour".

First, they immigrated to Vietnam in the Ming Dynasty. At the beginning of their settlement, a small number of Cantonese from China moved to Vietnam, whether because of the war or for some reason. But later, perhaps this group of Cantonese people lived comfortably in Vietnam, so they asked a group of people to settle there, so Cantonese people went there in batches. After all, during the Ming Dynasty, China was in a very turbulent period, and Vietnam was probably just a small tribe, where there was definitely no artillery fire.

Second, mountain friends have never forgotten their mother tongue and Chinese characters. For Cantonese who have settled in Vietnam, they have never given up speaking their mother tongue because they have gone to other countries. After all, they have learned it since they were young, and it is deeply rooted in their memories. Therefore, even in Vietnam, they will still speak Chinese and pass it on to future generations. So this group of people are out of place in Vietnam, but only because their country is small and powerful.

Vietnam's approach is very clever. It means that Cantonese people are a nation, which can kill two birds with one stone by giving a statement to our own people and avoiding expelling Cantonese people and provoking the Sino-Vietnamese war. Therefore, China and Viet Nam have always been very good neighbors. Because of the existence of Shanyou, this small country is deeply loved by China.
