What's the difference between overseas Chinese students and international students? What kind of identity should be configured for children?
In the current unbalanced allocation of educational resources, college entrance examination immigrants have become the choice of more and more children and parents. According to immigrant investment, children can immediately obtain the status of overseas Chinese students and international students, and then enter the "highway" of prestigious education step by step in advance. What are these identities? What is the difference?
The real identity is different. First, "overseas Chinese students" and "international students" are very different in their real identities. A foreigner refers to a person who lives overseas and has China nationality. Therefore, overseas China students are students with China nationality (China passport and visa) and overseas permanent residence status! International students refer to students who hold foreign passports and apply for Chinese visas to study in China.
In a different way. No matter whether you are equipped with the real identity of "overseas Chinese students" or "international students", you don't need to take the summer college entrance examination and compete with tens of millions of students for the college entrance examination qualification. However, overseas Chinese students must take the national unified entrance examination for overseas Chinese students, with a full score of 750. Science majors don't test microbiology, liberal arts don't test politics and metallurgy, and the difficulty coefficient is much lower than the summer college entrance examination. In addition, only over 5,000 overseas Chinese students applied for the entrance examination this year.
In 2022, the minimum admission score of the entrance examination for overseas Chinese students is 200 points (300 points for ordinary students and 400 points for some colleges), and it is equipped with a pre-university batch number (280 points for literature, history and science majors), so you only need to study for one more year than ordinary students!
And apply for domestic colleges and universities through the true identity of international students, without taking the unified examination. You must participate in the written test questions or recruitment interviews organized by major universities, and you can get the qualification after success. For example, in Peking University, some applicants are admitted to the school without written test questions, but they need to achieve internationally accepted college entrance examination scores, that is, one of the SAT, IB, A-level or ACT test scores.
To take the entrance examination for overseas Chinese students, students and one of their parents must not only have permanent residence status abroad, but also meet the number of years of residence abroad-they must have settled in the local area for not less than 18 months in two years, and they must have settled in the local area for not less than 18 months in the two years before the examination registration.
In addition, candidates and their parents who have not obtained the overseas permanent residence status examination and have obtained the true status of reasonable and legal work abroad for more than 5 years (inclusive) may also apply to take the joint entrance examination for overseas students, but the overseas residence time is relatively long, and the accumulated work in 5 years shall not be less than 30 months, and the accumulated work of candidates in the 5 years before their registration shall not be less than 30 months.
However, international students cannot apply for domestic universities as international students immediately after obtaining foreign passports. Generally speaking, students must hold a foreign passport or nationality for more than 4 years (inclusive), and have a record of actually living in a foreign country for 2 years or more in the last 4 years (as of April 30 of the academic year) (specifically, living in a foreign country for 9 months in a year can be counted as 1 year, subject to the entry and exit visa stamp).
