Did China quit the WTO?
On July1995 1 1, the WTO General Council decided to accept China as an observer country of the organization. Since China applied for re-entry into GATT in 1986, China has made great efforts to re-enter GATT and join the World Trade Organization in 15. 200165438+February1kloc-0/,China officially joined the World Trade Organization, becoming its143rd member.
The Republic of China is one of the founding countries of GATT, the predecessor of the World Trade Organization. People's Republic of China (PRC) was founded in 1949, but the western capitalist countries refused to recognize People's Republic of China (PRC) on the grounds of political opposition and continued to recognize the status of the government of the Republic of China. People's Republic of China (PRC) cannot obtain the status of a contracting party to GATT.
19711kloc-0/On October 25th, the United Nations General Assembly issued resolution 2758, which issued a statement on the issue of "restoring People's Republic of China (PRC)'s lawful rights in the United Nations". People's Republic of China (PRC) was granted legal status, and the government of the Republic of China did not appear on the list of GATT until 55, 2006.
It is an idiotic dream for the United States to imply that China will be "expelled" from the WTO;
"The WTO is a multilateral institution, not an American institution. WTO members are equal, and it is not the United States that has the final say. Although some individuals in the United States suggest that China will be' expelled' from the WTO, it is doomed to be an idiotic dream, but it also exposes the hegemonic face and self-centered mentality of the United States. " Geng Shuang said.
He said that according to incomplete statistics, for some time, the United States has successively withdrawn from international organizations such as UNESCO, the United Nations Human Rights Council, the Universal Postal Union, and a series of international instruments such as the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPP), the Paris Climate Change Agreement, the Global Immigration Agreement, the Iranian Nuclear Agreement, and the Optional Protocol to the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations on Compulsory Settlement of Disputes.
The international community has its own lessons from the US's behavior of "breaking the contract" and "withdrawing from the group" under the banner of "US priority", and is deeply worried about the US's practice of "using multilateral institutions and multilateral treaties together, and abandoning them if they are not in conformity". He said that after China joined the WTO, it actively kept its promises. In July this year, the WTO reviewed China's trade policy.
All parties, including the Director-General of the WTO, generally spoke positively of China's support and contribution to the multilateral trading system and highly appreciated China's increasingly important role in the WTO. Geng Shuang said that China is committed to building an open world economy, firmly supports the multilateral trading system with the WTO as its core, and is willing to work with all parties to push the WTO to keep pace with the times and carry out reforms on the basis of adhering to its own core values and basic principles.
At the same time, China resolutely defends multilateralism and maintains a rule-based international order, and is willing to work with the international community to promote the building of a new type of international relations featuring mutual respect, fairness, justice, win-win cooperation and build a unified destiny for mankind.
